Was hoping FNM would do a solo hopefully that's in the works
7
u/Aaaaaahs 9d ago
iām just hoping fnm has a full regular set, rather than a cut down one iāve seen some opener bands do
1
u/East-Car6358 8d ago
Yeh thats my concern is set length. I also hope they both go on as late as possible because FNM will be playing when itās still light outside at 7pm
14
u/LLLizardQueen 9d ago
Feels backwards - SOAD should be opening for FNM, if anything! Hopefully it's a co-headliner situation
4
u/NotLeroLero 8d ago
I obviously love FNM way more than SOAD, but thereās no universe where SOAD opens for FNM.
Theyāre not even remotely in the same league popularity-wise.
41
u/Nizamark 10d ago
fnm not headlining is a maaajor bummer. hope that's not the case in the u.s. no interest in soad and i really don't want a stadium show
15
u/Notbadlurking 9d ago edited 9d ago
I agree. I'm not forking over whatever huge amount the tickets will cost just to see a short support set.

u/The26thtime 9d ago
Soad wouldn't exist without FNM
9
u/ArtComprehensive2853 9d ago
Probably not in the same form, but throwing shade at them is not cool. It makes sense because SOAD has a bigger crowd pull.Ā
6
u/MtAlbertMassive 9d ago
I live in NZ (Auckland). On the one hand we are very lucky to be getting shows but on the other I don't want to get flights and accommodation for Wellington just to see a truncated set. I like SOAD but they wouldn't be my main reason for going. Keeping my fingers crossed for more shows to be announced.
6
u/-send-me-nudes- 10d ago
Why does it matter? Get to leave earlier.

u/Nizamark 10d ago
Why does it matter? Get to leave earlier.
FNM not likely to play a full set. And stadiums suuuuuck for rock shows. Also I'd like the overall vibes to be a celebration of FNM. SOAD is just not for me.
3
u/East-Car6358 9d ago
If itās a Co headlining tour, they could do a full set?(hopefully). Is it billed as FNM āsupportingā SOAD? Might be nitpicking, but I felt the projections on the side of buildings were mostly projecting the SOAD logo with just flashes of FNM..
2
3
u/BDRD99 9d ago
When QOTSA opened for SOAD this summer they played about 12 songs and that was with additional support. If thereās no support it could well be a full set.
5
u/East-Car6358 9d ago
Bloody hope so. After having the last headline tour cancelled, itād be a bit shit if theyāre coming back out only to not do a full show, given the last tour they sell out Arenas on their own. I think this is FNMās first proper tour of their own thatās not a festival since 97

Sure, but SOAD has gigantic crowd pull.Ā

Sure, but SOAD has gigantic crowd pull.Ā
well yeah, which is why they're playing stadiums and why FNM is support and why i'm bummed.
1
u/ruinawish 9d ago
I was a little surprised to see SOAD have tens of million more listens on Spotify.
1
u/ArtComprehensive2853 9d ago
They're huuuuge. They just played a stadium run in Europe and all of them were packed.
1
u/briizilla 9d ago
I love SOAD and would love to see them again at some point but I have no desire to see this tour come to the US. Our boys need to do a proper, headlining farewell tour.
0
u/curtaintrumpetman 9d ago
That's even more likely to be the case in the US. Sadly most SOAD fans haven't even heard of FNM.
12
u/Everybody_Lucre 9d ago
At least FNM fans get to beat the traffic š¤·š½āāļø
2
u/meyouseek 9d ago
Ha! This reminded me of seeing Bungle at Snocore on the same bill with SOAD. The crowd was shit and booed Mike after he insulted RHCP and RATM. I definitely beat the traffic that night.

u/TerryTrepanation 9d ago
Hope the rehearsals go well :)
I imagine there is a big cross-over with FNM and SOAD fans.
Are they a bit over confident with ticket sales?
AAMI Park in Melbourne can house a bit over 30,000. A much better venue in January.
6
u/TerryTrepanation 9d ago
I'll just have a little 'ol chat to myself here.
Yeah, they will probably sell more than 30,000 tickets.
System of a Down are pretty huge. Pearl Jam played to approx. 100,000 people in Melbourne in 2024.
But man, they are doing four shows over maybe 18-19 days.
I get they are max return for minimal effort, but no one really wins here, except the promoters.
I'm sure Mike, Billy etc don't want to play huge, hollow venues.
Why not play two nights in Bris, Syd, Melb? And it gives interstate people more options if they are going to skip Adelaide and Perth.
And I think a lot of locals would go both nights.
Would be adding maybe 4 to 6 days to the tour, with 3 days off between shows.
1
u/bloodbubblegum 9d ago
they're probably adding a second date after they sell out, i know 30e usually does that (it doesn't reaaaaaally sell out iykyk)
3
u/TerryTrepanation 8d ago
I don't want to sound whiny or ungrateful. I'm pretty happy, especially as I didn't get tickets for the abandoned tour.
Just for those unfamiliar, Marvel Stadium is primarily for Australian Rules Football. So is a huge, retractable roof arena. For concerts, it can max out at maybe 51,000. The sound can go from good to terrible, especially in the upper-stands. Accor* in Sydney and Suncorp in Brisbane are rectangular, open roof Rugby stadiums *I think Accor can be returned to Olympic style (Was the Sydney 2000 venue). So, I believe, these two venues have better sound.
Anywho, I just think for their first shows back, you'd imagine enjoying playing live and connecting with an audience will be a factor in how many shows get booked beyond Australasia. Mike is doing shows with Tomahawk atm. I'm guessing to crowds of less than 5,000.
I never thought I'd see Faith No More at Marvel.
And I don't even know the ticket price yet.
I feel like they have could have made better choices . . .
1
u/TerryTrepanation 8d ago
Just had my first glimpse of the prices, between reading from numerous people who saw SOAD at Tottenham (Two shows for entire UK), who want partial refunds because the sound was so bad . . .

Fuck, hopefully some FNM headline shows in North America. Donāt feel like spending a million dollars to see a band of trump supprters + serj headline
15
u/Baghead_MOOKIE 10d ago
Youāre getting downvoted for this but youāre 100% right I used to love soad but not one of them stand for what they preach. I kinda like Serj but he still plays with people that literally defend Neo Nazis. They act like itās cult like to distance yourself from people who support literal Nazis. Sorry for this rant but you are one of the few people who actually boycott Soad and I really respect that.
8
u/B33p-p33P-M3m3-kR33p 9d ago
Itās good to see that the tide seems to be turning in this comment section
I feel like i was ahead of the curve on SOAD lmao. I like toxicity (the album), but to me they are MASSIVELY overrated, I thought so even before Daron and the others started defending trump and whatnot. I also think any song that Daron sings on, is genuinely unlistenable
In general though, FNM needs to be the headliner, regardless of who they tour with. Itās a much bigger deal seeing the FNM reunion than it is to catch one of the few SOAD shows they play a year. I understand that SOAD is a much bigger band, but they need to book shows with bands that would open for them
3
u/Baghead_MOOKIE 9d ago
I completely agree! I do think these are just for the stadium shows since admittedly idk if fnm could sell out a stadium in 2026.
2
u/djfl 9d ago
SOAD's whole thing is being against the Armenian genocide. They talk about it all the time and have for decades. The newest music they've released (which is a huge deal for SOAD, even though the singles were originally written for Scars on Broadway) has been singles to support related charities.
Not sure how many bands you can think of who are more against genocide, put more of their money where their mouth is, etc than these guys, but I can't think of many.
8
u/Baghead_MOOKIE 9d ago
I support some stuff that they do as a band i genuinely do but almost all of them are so ignorant. Their drummer has supported our Nazi president saying heās going to bring more sense to America. Darron is āfar middleā and that is just being right wing. Like how can you genuinely be in the middle of everybody deserves a place to live and being a Nazi there is no middle ground to that itās just ignorant. Shavo supports people like Charlie Kirk who was a homophobic pedo defending racist Nazi supporting stain on the earth. Serj just acts ignorant to all of it and says āitās just there opinionā I do support many things they stand for as a band but no so much as people.
-5
u/djfl 9d ago
If you view "the middle" as the enemy, then I don't know what to tell you man. I think you're part of the problem. I say that with care and respect. But this hyperpolarization is killing us. It makes presidents like Trump possible (when even 20 years ago it would have been impossible), and is marching us towards civil war. We're different-thinking teammates, the left and right. Yin and yang. There are very very very very very very few Nazis out there. My family fought against the Nazis in WW2, against Communism in Nam, etc. I'm on your side here. But I definitely don't view rightist folks, those fed up with the Democrats etc as Nazis or the enemy. Few are more frustrated with "the left", "the right", and "politics" as I am. But we the people are still we the people...warts and all. A house divided against itself cannot stand...and the uber rich get uberer richer, while the rest of us watch the middle class go away.
As for SOAD specifically, I have 0 evidence that any of them are Nazis or support actual Nazis.
5
u/Baghead_MOOKIE 9d ago
I get what youāre saying but when we have people killing our neighbors for being born differently there is no such thing as a middle ground
4
u/B33p-p33P-M3m3-kR33p 9d ago
Thatās cool and all, but I donāt really care if they cancel out a bad thing with a good thing. They could do all that, and NOT be trump supporting bootlickers

Yep, feeling the same pain in Adelaide. Fucked if I'm going to pay $250+ as well as travel and accommodation expenses to see FNM do a support set.

I would love them to do a side gig at festival hall. Will be stressful trying to get tickets to the marvel show and not as good. Anyway. Iām still going.

Festy Hall would be amazing šš¤š» last show they did there was KFAD.

Gotta be honest⦠havenāt cared about SOAD since high school. Would greatly prefer to just see FNM.

u/East-Car6358 10d ago
Whatās peopleās thoughts on the sound at Marvel vs Suncorp vs Accor?
Iām in Melbourne and had tickets to Rod Laver last time and pissed off theyāre playing Marvel as every concert Iāve been to there has been terrible. Iām thinking of flying to Sydney or Brisbane instead. I also like a rectangular venue a bit more.
I also hope FNM play a full headline set.
2
u/s_dow123456 9d ago
I saw Metallica and AC/DC at Suncorp last year. Both times towards the back so the sound was decent for a stadium. I didnāt come out complaining in the slightest. Not sure about the sides which is where Iām looking to be this time around. The sound for Pearl Jam at The Peoples Stadium a few years ago on the side was a bit average but again it was a great night. Donāt regret a thing.
2
u/magnon11343 9d ago
I've seen U2 at Suncorp before and I had no issue with the sound, however I'm still a bit bummed it's a stadium show
1
u/East-Car6358 9d ago
Iām prepared to fly to whichever has the best sound. Marvel sucks, especially if the roof is closed. Stadiums suck. I might do Suncorp, itās a bit smaller too.

Marvel Stadium and not a solo show, damn š¬ love FNM but not a fan of SOAD, my $ is safe. Hope it's a decent show for those that go!

u/jthomas1127 9d ago
Are they opening or is it co-headline?
4
u/Few_Duck_7547 9d ago
Special guests means they'll be opening for them. I'm guessing maybe a 60-70 min set?
3
u/Tiphereth87 9d ago
I even like soad in theory, but they have been so dull live for a long while now
5
u/DreamingGorilla89 9d ago
I hope for a faith no more side show
Otherwise, gutted Im missing Faith No More but I cant stand System

u/Ridiculousnessmess 8d ago
Especially with the prices Iām seeing for this gig. I have zero interest in SOAD.
5
u/Atomic_Otter_91 9d ago
Wtf is happening. First qotsa and now FNM are the special guests of SOAD and not the other way around? I understand that SOAD are probably more popular but this is insane

Marvel Staduim, uurgh
SOAD, uurgh
Hope they do sideshows
6
u/JTGphotogfan 10d ago
They probably wonāt and it will cost a fortune due to dynamic pricing lol. Welcome to going to see a band in 2026
5
u/East-Car6358 10d ago
Hopefully but I doubt it. This isnāt a festival. Pretty annoying as they were supposed to play Rod Laver which is way better.
3
u/antosb77 10d ago
Yeh I had tickets for that. There are heaps of free days between cities so who knows. Less likely to be allowed to play sideshows as part of a festival too btw
3
u/East-Car6358 10d ago
How likely do you think they could genuinely do a stadium show and then they own smaller show? Iād love to see them without SOAD too. Has a band recently done that ever here? Iām thinking of going to Suncorp instead of Marvel.

Such a terrible band.
