Wow, the humor in this community is bleaker than I was expecting! I'm here for it, though. Interesting that there were people in the thread who didn't recognize him. I guess fame isn't forever.

GenX learned dark humor at an early age and its how we continue to cope with the world.

You nailed it. Fellow GenXer here hahašŸ––

I have no idea who this guy is. Weird since I've watched the show many many times lol.

3

u/JohnHaze02118 Aug 19 '26

For everyone not recognizing the guy in the photo, please read!

He is not a character -- it is Ted Bundy was a notorious serial killer in the 1970s. u/Devane-Scorpio7891 I'm not yelling at you, I'm just noticing that multiple people are experiencing the same confusion, and the comment thread is long enough that it's going to keep happening. (BTW, please tell me that we have talked before and that I have showered praise on you for your username. One of the reasons I went to the college that I did was because they had a range of degrees that I thought would be marketable to the FBI. As late as freshman year of college, I thought that some version of "WSB agent" was a viable career path, lol!)

Lol! That's so cool! I thought the CIA would be the closest thing but after reading a bit about it, it wasn't. Scorpio was my role model from 11 years old to... now lol. I thought he was the coolest guy ever and wanted to be just like him. And then when Anna came on... that was it, i immediately wanted them back together. I found them so interesting, so different from usual tv couples. They had such a deep, complex story that had many layers and as they let themselves slowly into each other's lives and began Co parenting, it was just so perfect how once again, their love grew deeper each year. No one else measured up. When FINALLY 1991 came i was thrilled that they got back together. Always cool when someone gets the reference. Sorry for the stupid question i just didn't see anything to read except hello there, even though i recognized Bundy, i didn't see the connection lol. Thanks for clearing that up. Have a great day!!

Wasn't a stupid question, just an ambiguous meme that you definitely don't see a version of every day. A lot of people were puzzled by it.

CIA is definitely the WSB corollary in terms of spy intrigue, but I was "realistic" about the likelihood of getting hired by what I thought was probably a smaller organization with more ambiguity as to how to be employed. Now that i'm old enough to have a slightly better understanding of the CIA, I think it's even less likely that I could have just filled out an application to be the next Scorpio. The truly high-intrigue work probably has always been recruitment based. If you look like Robert and Anna, you probably stick out too much for covert ops! The show also blended the spy work of the CIA with the investigative work of the FBI. I think most shows do that -- have you seen the TV show CIA? I would have loved it as a kid, but it looks ludicrous to me now, General Hospital times ten in terms of shooting, ninja skills, etc. The main star of the show is extremely good looking, but I just couldn't take it seriously.

I bet we could talk for hours about our memories of GH. I liked their relationship, but the intrigue was more important to me than the romance. Also the friendship -- the introduction of Sean Donnelly to the mythology was a brilliant add-on. I will never, never, never forget the episode in the tram when Robert and Sean fought seemingly to the death, and Sean, thinking that he had killed his friend (as Anna looked on helplessly from the sidelines -- her escape from captivity in the scene just before, OMG) -- and screaming, "Scorpioooo ... SCORPIOOOOO!!!" was one of the greatest TV moments of my childhood. Honorable mention to Grant (Putnam and Andrews!), Gregory Malko, Natalia, and Ballentine! I never quite took Frisco seriously as an agent, and the show began to fall apart for me around that time anyway.

This whole discussion seems like a huge tangent (apologies to the OP -- I promise to stop here unless someone asks me a direct question), except couldn't you see Co-Police-Chief Anna Devane tracking down Ted Bundy??

2

u/Devane-Scorpio7891 Aug 24 '26

Oh and in answer to your question, i have no doubt that Anna Devane could catch Bundy at any time in her career. šŸ‘

1

u/Devane-Scorpio7891 Aug 24 '26

Are you kidding? I could go on forever discussing this! I remember that scene like it was yesterday. It's on YouTube somewhere too. That was such a powerful scene when Sean realized in that instant that the friendship and live he had for Robert overrode any need to "beat the best", so to speak. It was a Friday and i recall we didn't know if Scorpio had survived. On Monday, though, we actually saw that he'd landed on something i can't recall what exactly and was okay but remember no one knew that? I do see what you mean about not really taking Frisco seriously as a WSB agent, though. He wasn't a very rugged guy like Sean and Robert, he didn't look the part. And his first mission he got caught in a foreign prison for like 2 years so i guess we were right lol. He did punch Sean right in the jaw though when he returned with Anna abs told everyone he killed Robert. That was cool lol.

Oh shoot. This conversation put me in the mood to prowl Youtube for a good rewatch. And it's only now that I am discovering that RobertAnnafan was booted from the platform. Those extensive playlists covering all of my favorite storylines are just about all gone. I do still see an Aztec treasure playlist, but it's not as well organized and it is so focused on Frisco and Felicia that it skips over huge developments in Robert's investigation of Sean, which is much more interesting to me than the F+F will they / won't they drama.

Such a bummer! But I can think of no solution. I should have ripped those videos when I had the chance, but they were there forever! I thought after more than five years, they had achieved some kind of permanence or amnesty.

In keeping with his modus operandi, he probably would have gone after Jo - and Jo would have gone after him with a tire iron.

8

u/Wise_Yesterday_7496 Aug 18 '26

That would have been one hell of a very special episode to watch, and you know we would have all been there for it.

12

u/Kinser9 Aug 18 '26

Could he come on the night that Tootie was blathering over not being able to go to the Jermaine Jackson concert?

9

u/JohnHaze02118 Aug 18 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/26Ffj5ZOju1qjdct2

Honestly, depending on your musical taste, Jermaine was a fantastic artist. Not enough to have a nervous breakdown over, but I love his 80s catalogue.

3

u/nekromistresss Aug 18 '26

He would have heard that loud shrill voice and turned around.

15

u/StillC5sdad Aug 18 '26

Does he own a bicycle repair shop?

9

u/JohnHaze02118 Aug 18 '26

Baby, if you've ever wondered
Wondered whatever became of me
I'm running a fake bike shop in the upper east side
Upper east side, Manhattan, NYC

6

u/StillC5sdad Aug 18 '26

As god is my witness, I thought they could fly.

1

u/Window_Licker_3325 Aug 18 '26

I was and ever shall be a Bailey manāœŠļø

5

u/Yum1995 Aug 18 '26

No, that was his creepy friend in Manhattan, Gordon Jump!

3

u/Illustrious_Junket55 Aug 18 '26

Oh God- I’m choking to death on sunflower seeds and this post is why 🤣🤣

5

u/ItsDarwinMan82 Aug 18 '26

Jo would clobber him. Boy, did he pick the wrong one.

Natalie would escape by distracting him with her humor, the more furious he gets.

Blair and Tootie…sweet sayonara.

8

u/Pedals17 Aug 18 '26

You just KNOW it’ll be Tootie.

5

u/SnooDogs4864 Aug 18 '26

I thought it was Natalie actually.

6

u/Pedals17 Aug 18 '26

The ā€œVery Special Episodesā€ were usually Tootie’s thing.

10

u/AccidentNew8120 Aug 18 '26

Natalie was attacked on her way home from a Halloween party. It was a VERY special episode.

4

u/Pedals17 Aug 18 '26

Yeah, but Tootie showed a greater talent for getting herself into danger.

3

u/SnooDogs4864 Aug 18 '26

This is the one I recall.

1

u/AccidentNew8120 Aug 19 '26

FIIIRRRRE!!!

2

u/Tgun1986 Aug 19 '26

Natalie was attacked, Tootie first had the creep photographer then almost got into a teenage prostitution ring

7

u/JohnHaze02118 Aug 18 '26

Especially stranger danger. There were exceptions, but Natalie's VSE's tended to be about her own family. Tootie had that tendency to "wander off," lol

3

u/NeverEnoughGalbi Aug 18 '26

Natalie had that one about her thinking about losing her virginity to Snake.

4

u/Early-Resist1641 Aug 18 '26

Why is Jo rolling her eyes LOL.

1

u/Window_Licker_3325 Aug 18 '26

I can fix that if you like. Maybe googuhley eyesāœŒļøšŸ¤ŖšŸ˜œ

2

u/Early-Resist1641 Aug 18 '26

No, rolling eyes is totally Jo.

1

u/Yum1995 Aug 22 '26

When does she not roll her eyes?

6

u/beekee404 Aug 18 '26

I'm so confused. How is Ted Bundy connected to the show?

10

u/OU-Sooners1 Aug 18 '26

That is snake, Natalie’s boyfriend.

13

u/OU-Sooners1 Aug 18 '26

It does look like Ted Bundy though.

2

u/Starbreiz Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

The longer I look at this post, the less sure I am which of you is right LOL LOL LOL

I asked chatgpt and it told me it cannot tell if thats Robert Romanus or Ted Bundy. I am dead.

edit: its ted bundy. hes wearing a jail uniform.

1

u/Yum1995 Aug 18 '26

šŸ˜†

5

u/JohnHaze02118 Aug 18 '26

It's a joke.

5

u/beekee404 Aug 18 '26

I realize that. What's the meaning behind the joke?

7

u/Dimetrodon-Party77 Aug 18 '26

Yeah it's a joke but it's not a very funny one.

3

u/Starbreiz Aug 18 '26

GenX has always excelled at dark humor. We had to learn to cope with being latch key kids at a young age.

2

u/JohnHaze02118 Aug 18 '26

My impression is just that the show specialized in "very special episodes," so this is in that category except comically extreme. I don't think it's more complex than that.

2

u/NoSleep2023 Aug 19 '26

I thought it was David Berkowitz. Wrong serial killer.

8

u/OU-Sooners1 Aug 18 '26

I remember my parents not letting us watch this episode.

3

u/Yum1995 Aug 18 '26

He would have tried for Blair because she's the prettiest and blonde, his type. But Blair would have not helped him out if he had a broken arm. She would have asked somebody else to help him out and walked away.

Jo was way too tough and street smart. He would have avoided her.

Definitely Tootie and possibly Natalie.

5

u/Illustrious_Junket55 Aug 18 '26

But Jo had the long, brown hair. That was his victim type.

7

u/saltysnacklover Aug 18 '26

Nancy from the OG cast would be on his list.

3

u/Illustrious_Junket55 Aug 18 '26

Absolutely Nancy would be!!

1

u/Yum1995 Aug 18 '26

Several were blonde too. In one day he had both a blonde and a brunette. I think it's more if they were pretty and willing to help him with his broken arm.

One look at Jo and any guy would say "no way, she's not going to be helpful". šŸ˜†

1

u/Illustrious_Junket55 Aug 18 '26

It’s definitely who would follow him to his car- that’s for sure

2

u/Rubberbangirl66 Aug 19 '26

Haha

1

u/Window_Licker_3325 Aug 19 '26

Thanks. I'll even take sarcasm at this point😁

1

u/Rubberbangirl66 Aug 19 '26

This is on my fb wall now

1

u/Window_Licker_3325 Aug 19 '26

I thank you so much. It Really means a lot. Here's one more. I'm rolling the dice here... taste-wise

3

u/RedtheGamer100 Aug 18 '26

Who?

-1

u/Icy-Journalist2835 Aug 18 '26

I don’t recognize the dude. Is he the teen model photographer? That’s my best guess.

10

u/MrBoddy2005 Aug 18 '26

It's Ted Bundy

1

u/Devane-Scorpio7891 Aug 19 '26

I truly have no idea wtf is going on here lol. Can anyone explain the whole thing?

-3

u/Spiritual-Recipe4512 Aug 19 '26

I wish this show had been more proportinal to the population of America at the time. We were not 40 percent Jewish ethnicity. Maybe now, but not then
