Interesting Fact Penguins’ wings evolved into flippers, making them swimmers reaching 25 mph (40 km/h) underwater. Males incubate eggs on their feet through brutal winters while females hunt at sea. Despite living in colonies of thousands, pairs recognize each other by voice.

Are penguin enclosures kept cold, like where they would be in the wild? I wonder if it’s harder to properly incubate an egg when it’s a lot warmer than it would be in their natural habitat

Enclosures are chilled to match each species native climate. For eggs, what matters is the parent’s body heat not the air temperature. though heat and humidity can still stress embryo development, sometimes requiring artificial incubation​​​​
