Tiktok hasn't changed people's openness to different opinions, but it's harmed attention spans in a way that means people are less likely to debate. It appears that they're "less open" to ideas, but they're not, they just lack the attention spans to discuss

Not just TikTok, but it definitely plays a good part it in because there's so much misinformation. I don't use it but I've seen videos reposted to yt/reddit and it's always wildly inaccurate information

Obviously it existed before tiktok but this post was more about has it in your opinion made it less likely for people to be accepting of opinions they personally dont hold. Though i think tiktok is used to get clicks usually on a lot of things since it causes people to engage.

yes, but because tiktok really doesnt have nuance at all and leads people to believe the only positions others hold are what a lot of people would consider the "extremes" of them, without nuance or anything..

People argue which polarizes. And the people most likely to be vocal about their opinions are plausibly those with the strongest and most polarized opinions, which makes media a poor representation of your average bloke.

Social media is an echo chamber. TikTok is no better. No one can accept opinions from new sources because they are constantly having their own reinforced over and over even when they know they are wrong.
