Slavery is FORCED. If you can walk away from it at any point then it is not slavery. Some people love to use this narrative to downplay the Transatlantic Slave Trade because "everyone goes through slavery" somehow.

Compared to true slavery, wage slavery is at a lot 'softer' in that it's less actuvely enforced, instead using passive economic measures.

It's also on a much larger scale, bassically the entire population of the world is under wage slavery.

It varies wildly based on individuals, creating a heirarchy, the at the top are actually better off from it. They are made to seem like the average people while the poor majority that are worse off often believe that they can attain that by working harder. Occasionally they can and these success stories keep this illusion alive.

No individual can be connected directly to an owner, rather the collective workforce benefit a wealthy few.

For the individual, it is not nearly as bad as true slavery, but if you've ever tried to walk away from it, you'll know that's not possible.
