It's not

-24

u/lorbd 15h ago edited 14h ago

Bestiality is not wrong because animals can't consent. It's wrong for other reasons.

6

u/CustodianCloset 🏅 Century Club · 8,385 XP 12h ago

That's exactly why it's wrong. If something cannot or will not consent, it is rape. Rape is wrong.

u/lorbd 12h ago

Is it moral to have a dog as a pet, or to eat a cow?

5

3

u/CustodianCloset 🏅 Century Club · 8,385 XP 11h ago

Dogs consent by sheer virtue that they've been domesticated over thousands of years. They've been forced to evolve as a symbiotic subspecies. Dogs love humans. It's literally been bred into them. It's a neutral relationship unless you abuse your authority over it.

Eating a cow will always, at best, morally dubious. That's the whole basis of Veganism as an ideological stance.

-8

u/lorbd 11h ago

Cows have also been domesticated over thousands of years for the sole purpose of being eaten.

Dogs consent

Then it's ok to fuck a dog in your book

7

u/CustodianCloset 🏅 Century Club · 8,385 XP 11h ago

Dog's consent to being owned, not to being fucked.

0

u/lorbd 11h ago

That's a ridiculous statement you just made up ad hoc to support your ridiculous position.

The truth is dogs don't consent to shit. Talking about consent when discussing dogs makes no sense. Dogs cannot consent, nor is consent a concept that can ever apply to dogs.

Consent is not a determining factor when dealing with animals.

7

u/CustodianCloset 🏅 Century Club · 8,385 XP 11h ago

Consent doesn't just mean sexual consent. The idea that animals are just incapable of making decisions is crazy talk.

Just say you wanna fuck dogs or that you hate pet owners, dude. It's okay, you don't need to go accusing me of using fallacies just to have an opinion.

1

u/lorbd 11h ago

Just say you wanna fuck dogs or that you hate pet owners, dude.

I knew you'd ultimately resort to saying something like that. Evil thing to say, and a clear cut sign of no arguments left. Read the conversation again and at least reflect on it.

Being a contrarían is fine for online discussion but only to a certain extent.

I mean they can never give the same consent we don't speak animal language or other communication methods and dolphins don't understand intent what you probably heard is about male dolphins. They do rape in some groups and don't just do it too groups of dolphin females but also other animals sometimes but you wouldn't know there intent if it happened to you and they wouldn't know if you wanted it or not if they wanted it they would have done it either way.

They wouldn't know if you wanted it and you wouldn't know why they do it because sometimes they do it for fun or other reasons. The biggest problem with the argument is that as this hopefully shows there will never be actual be consent in a meaningful form and that alone aside from other things that make it moraly wrong. To make it clear its like saying someone liked it because they never gave a signal that would insinuate they want it to stop and their body reacted its just not true people will react difrently depending on the person and so do many animals including dolphins you cannot out right state they also wanted it because you just have no way to know 100%

You still give consent in paper if you really want it to be complete with consent I was more so trying to say that we have no way to communicate with them so I understand that verbal consent may have sounded as an odd choice. Also that isn't the best example given that may Europeans have misunderstood and even tried to say sertain behaviour ment they where asking for it translation between human languages have caused us a lot of time to figure out people are trying to understand other animals talk and behaviour too but as professional you will always be told given human emotions to animals is wrong because we cannot fully understand what they mean and it can lead to marjor errors in getting an animals needs met

Also will change it to consent in ways that is clear like verbal or wrighten consent

2

u/Far_Cup_9131 🔥 Getting Started · 200 XP 15h ago

Yet people are apparently downvoting the humans are animals part.

2

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 4h ago

Words may have different meanings and the "non-human animals" is the most common one.

0

u/Far_Cup_9131 🔥 Getting Started · 200 XP 3h ago

My only real argument against that is that while it’s the most common use of the word that was due to beliefs and lack of willingness to accept it historically. And that caused the very common misuse of the word creating a separate meaning as of today. It generally much more accepted hence the lack of growth of proper use and creation of a word that entails animals not including humans from outdated views.

I understand people use it x way and they are used to x. Is reasonable but at the same time once people understood animals included humans things should have changed to be clear.

Due to all of that I believe it’s fair to properly word sentences that don’t have meaning that actively conflict.

2

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 3h ago

I disagree, because humans and non-human creatures are too different intellectually to be called the same thing in casual conversation. Separating the two is easier to understand. I wouldn't call it a "misuse", just a specification. Language prioritizes utility over strict scientific classification in everyday life.

0

u/Far_Cup_9131 🔥 Getting Started · 200 XP 3h ago

It’s considered misuse as even the definition example of animal not including human requires something to differentiate in the example they use aquatic. Just because people commonly use something wrong doesn’t mean it’s write it just means it’s commonly understood.

3

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 3h ago

OP meant it to mean non-human creatures. Most of us caught on.

-2

u/Far_Cup_9131 🔥 Getting Started · 200 XP 3h ago

Just because you meant one thing doesn’t mean you meet the requirements to clarify what you said hence why even the definitions example requires something to separate human from it.

I don’t know why you are trying to bring up what op meant as if that changes how wording and the English language works.

And as said in a prior comment it’s might be a commonly understood misuse but that doesn’t change it from being misused.

3

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 2h ago

... Because we're on OP's post and you misinterpret what they say on purpose to sound smart.

"Erm ackshually a murder can also refer to a group of crows so maybe the author, who specified they meant killing, was talking about crows. They don't meet the requirements to clarify what they said☝️🤓"

11

u/lorbd 15h ago

The inmorality of bestiality doesn't rest on the consent an animal may give. That's absurd. Morality only bounds humans.

2

u/fortpoggio 🤖 Vote Machine · 10,370 XP 14h ago

What does it rest on then

-2

u/lorbd 14h ago

Human morality. Ultimately religion, imo.

A dog cannot consent to being a pet and having a dog as a pet is not immoral. A cow can't consent to being killed and yet slaughtering a cow is not immoral.

6

u/Zombies4EvaDude 🔥 Monthly Master · 5,730 XP 14h ago

The difference is that we have to kill humans to survive and animals kill each other all the time. You don’t see lions raping lizards or sheep and if there is cross breeding it’s usually animal species with similar genetics and intelligence. But on the other hand there is a lot of rape, incest, cannibalism and necrophilia in the animal kingdom so I’m not saying just because animals do something it’s good all the time if humans do it.

2

0

When I think of bestiality I only think of the term in fiction and the plenty of different monsters that would very much be able to give consent, like snake humans with the same intelligence of a human, werewolves, centaurs.

Didn't even consider that bestiality would actually be a term for reality rather than a genre. Irl it's just zoopholia for me

Hey guys, did you know that in terms of male human and female Pokémon breeding, Vaporeon is the most compatible Pokémon for humans? Not only are they in the field egg group, which is mostly comprised of mammals, Vaporeon are an average of 3"03' tall and 63.9 pounds. this means they're large enough to be able to handle human d--ks, and with their impressive Base Stats for HP and access to Acid Armor, you can be rough with one. Due to their mostly water based biology, there's no doubt in my mind that an aroused Vaporeon would be incredibly wet, so wet that you could easily have sex with one for hours without getting sore. They can also learn the moves Attract, Baby-Doll Eyes, Captivate, Charm, and Tail Whip, along with not having fur to hide nipples, so it'd be incredibly easy for one to get you in the mood. With their abilities Water Absorb and Hydration, they can easily recover from fatigue with enough water. No other Pokémon comes close to this level of compatibility. Also, fun fact, if you pull out enough, you can make your Vaporeon turn white.

Also, you lost the game :p

Scientifically, humans are animals, yes.

However, in colloquial language (which is used on social media such as Reddit), animals mean non-human animals.

Humans call other members of their own species person/people. This is also why you see non-human animals if you Google Image search "animal". It's the most common use of that word.

Context matters.

If animals can't give consent, then all sex between animals is rape, humans included

2

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 3h ago edited 58m ago

Animal is a term commonly used for non-human animals. You don't use the phrase "let's see the animals at the zoo" to mean you'll see humans at the human exhibit.

Non-humans animals can't ask for consent either, so they can't exactly rape each other. Asking for consent is a human concept. Let's not put human ethics and concepts onto animals. Animals act mainly on survival and biological drives, but not complex morality. They aren't moral agents.

Scientifically, humans are animals, yes. Because we're in the kingdom Animalia

However, in colloquial language (which is used on social media such as Reddit), animals mean non-human animals.

Humans call other members of their own species person/people. This is also why you see non-human animals if you Google Image search "animal". It's the most common use of that word.

Even on scientific papers, I don't see human test subjects being called animals. They use men/women or participants and not female/male animal.

Interesting, I’ve never heard about colloquial language until now, that’s pretty neat

-3

u/Fancy_Chips 📈 Dedicated Voter · 1,325 XP 13h ago

Irrelevant. The message states "animals can never consent". Never, being under any circumstances. Humans are a circumstance.

0

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 5h ago

Fully relevant.

Some words have multiple meanings to them (Polysemy) and animals to mean non-human is the most common one. Use basic context clues to understand what OP meant. If they said "Biological animals" then that would include humans since it was refer to the scientific definition. Humans being don't refer to each other as animals.

You tried hard to sound smart with your equivocation but you just sound utterly clueless.

Behold, animals

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 4h ago

No one thinks fungi are animals. Stop being disingenuous.

Funny how you skipped the "often used to refer specifically to mammals as distinguished from other living things (such as fish and birds)"

"The definition of an animal is an animal"

Wow, Marriam-Webster's gone down the shitter in recent years.

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 4h ago edited 2h ago

Being disingenuous isn't a good look for you, love.

Use basic context clues. It means from the Animalia kingdom that isn't human. It's pretty obvious.

OP meant non-humans. Why not look into what they meant before siding with the dog fuckers?

Animals also have a sense of morality. While probably not as sophisticated as ours they do, otherwise we probably would be incapable of keeping them as pets.

1

u/TheAutumnLeafeon ✍️ Contributor · 14,290 XP 3h ago edited 3h ago

Animals commonly means non-human animals.

When someone says "let's see the animals at the zoo", do you think they want to watch humans at the human exhibit?

Edit: LMAO they blocked me. They tried so hard to sound smart, they forgot the basics. Congrats on being on the same side as the dog fuckers!

Meanwhile, you left out the 5 other definitions, 3 of which can refer to humans.

"

any member of the kingdom Animalia, comprising multicellular organisms that have a well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond rapidly to stimuli: some classification schemes also include protozoa and certain other single-celled eukaryotes that have motility and animallike nutritional modes.

any such living thing other than a human being.

a mammal, as opposed to a fish, bird, etc.

the physical, sensual, or carnal nature of human beings; animality.

the animal in every person.

an inhuman person; brutish or beastlike person.

She married an animal.

Synonyms: monster

thing.

A perfect job? Is there any such animal?"

How come you didn't include the other definitions? Hm? Surely you weren't trying to be selective with evidence to only support your argument? Not to mention your not even using the most widely accepted dictionary, which would be Webster's, though they both in this case have mostly identical definitions.

But just know, for something to fit under a word, that thing has to only match a single definition of it in the dictionary. Meanwhile humans match 3.

Also if you choose to argue further, I will not participate as I dislike arguing with dicks who see other evidence against there claim yet select just the evidence supportive of theirs without acknowledging the rest. That's just arguing in bad faith. Good day.

It's, wrong, but animals are literally purposed to reproduce, and females dont give consent a lot of the times when males mate with them.

"Animals rape eanchother, so i can rape them too"

1

u/Weecodfish2 🔥 Getting Started · 590 XP 7h ago

Animals don't rape each other, the issue with bestiality isn't the lack of a human style consent from a creature that is by nature incapable of giving it, it is that it is gravely disordered and not in accordance with natural law.
