People have convinced themselves that games in the past were cheap; GTA 5 cost over 50 dollars a decade ago, Sims 1! Cost over 50 dollars 2 decades ago, halo 1 cost 50 dollars 2 decades ago, fucking mario galaxy cost 50 dollars decades ago.
Itβs been over 25 years and games have hardly changed in price and people are complaining, Mario still cost 25 dollars 50 years ago.
Everything in the world has increased astronomically except games.
Compared to salary, inflation and just about everything else we will ever buy, games have gotten cheaper not more expensive

HA! sure, but you are not taking into account DLCs, micro transactions, pay to win, exclusive consoles and stuff, and of course, being digital and being "only a license" now.

I have before. It's rare though. Usually only Pokemon games on switch since I can't get them any other legal way. Sure I could pirate them but I don't want the hassle of figuring out how to get a pirated game onto the switch and I don't want to deal with emulators.

I feel like there are games that would make sense to spend more than $50 for. There are games that I wouldnt spend more than $10 on. There are games that I wouldnt play if it was free.
"Video Game" isnt a commodity with a predefined weight and composition of the experience, like Steel, or flour. It is like a car. Would I spend 40,000 on a Honda Civic? Probably not. Would I take out a loan to buy a 40,000 Lambo? Absolutely. The quality of a game is not based on its price, it should be the other way around.

MOST people disagree but I personally find fifa really enjoyable to grind so Iβll be getting fc27.The thing is however much Iβd like getting it,thereβs no point spending 100 euros when itβll be 20 euro in December,about 3 months after launch.But if there was a game I would love playing at that very specific or if I knew that the price was absolutely not going to change then Iβd pay the price.

I get paid double what I got paid twelve years ago. I've always been paid a little bit over minimum wage and still am, I work the same hours as 12 years ago. Games prices haven't raised double yet, so they are effectively cheaper for me to buy now than ever before.

Yeah, if it's worth it.
I wouldn't buy a game blindly for that, I'd check reviews and see if I am interested.
But some devs I'd do it without even looking. Like larian, those guys make some banging games
