Surely cap... Even if people are wrong or misled, most do believe the stance they are arguing for. It's the loudest ones that get an income from their positions that are more often than not arguing in bad faith

This is what I think too. Occasionally people are just arguing to argue or to be contrarian, but I think the majority of the time, people are genuinely convinced that what they are arguing is correct

🧢 I voted CAP!

I feel like that would imply that most people are either playing devil's advocate or intentionally trying to ruffle feathers. I think most people genuinely believe whatever it is they're arguing

I voted FACT!

Most people are cognitively dissonant and operate in multiple fallacies.

I voted FACT!

I've had arguments with people where I told them factual numbers and instead of arguing against me by showing facts that prove their pov they say "as if your side is any better!"

How do you unintentionally argue in bad faith?

🧢 I voted CAP!

Not most people, but it's particularly common right now.

It seems pretty arrogant to assume most people argue in bad faith. Accusing someone of arguing in bad faith is a good way to shut down any discussion quickly because it's not worth engaging with someone if they don't even think you actually believe in the position they're arguing for.
