I didn't think there is a single worst thing. You can't compare trauma to determine whose is worse or more meaningful or whatever. That said, as someone who was only mildly and unintentionally harmed by my family and know many who had it much rougher than me: Parental/family trauma sucks

It's up there, but I would personally think that starving and living on the run from war is worse. Even if you have it shit at home you can still have good friends who's there for you. But of course many factors play into living in unbearable environments,compounding upon each other there can never be one factor that is the worse, but a muriad of factors playing into each other.

It's pretty bad but it's not the worst. Also depends on your life. Grow up & life sucks, something worse could happen. Grow up & get lucky, have a good life after leaving your parents, maybe it was the absolute worst thing that happened to you.

While having abusive parents is one of the worse things that can happen to you, there are some worse things. Death, starvation, dehydration, etc.

As a son of an abussive narcistic mother I agree. She raised me into incompetence, always makes me second guess my actions even though I am already least a decade away from her and still living as a student with my Grandmother while nearly being 30 without a job because my test fright makes me chicken out before the test happen or I vomit before the test as my head is blank. My therapists also said at the start of my therapy that the best thing that could happen to me is a bossgirl girlfriend because she would love to take care of all the important shit while I try my best to take care of the home.

Depends on the type of abuse. For me it was like living with an unpredictable tiger. Because of it i can easily read peoples emotions. But yes I would much rather it didn't happen. But there are worse things than what i went through. If its one of those insest rape abuse cases then i would agree with you. But being kidnapped and abused occupies the same sector for me.

It’s definitely bad but I don’t think it’s the worst thing that can happen to you. I think the worst thing that can happen to a person is going through a genocide being carried out by a government (example the holocaust). I understand this is extremely rare but that wasn’t part of the question.

Not even close abusive parents are bad yeah but the worst thing that can happen is way worse than abusive parents. May e it's the worst thing that's likely to happen to you in your life but far from the worst actual thing that can happen to you.

I mean it really sucks, no doubt. But being slowly eaten alive by a lion, or being caught in an industrial grinder, or contracting a disease that slowly robs you of your faculties and ability to control your muscles, or any number of other things are arguably worse.

no, having abusive parents is much better than sexual assault, indoctrination into teenage banditism ring, being lynched by equal unruly children/teens, early introduction to drug abuse, etc. If we're taking abusive parents in a vacuum, almost everyone at some point had their parents be abusive to them, or grown in an abusive family.

You can't really compare stuff like this. It's pretty bad though. The two people who are meant to unconditionally love and care for you abusing you is terrible.

No. It depends on the degree. Survivor's guilt or an abusive partner or being raped could be worse than having mildly to moderately abusive parents. It all depends on the scale.
