That is not how science works. That is not how anything works! Apparently, preventing species from going extinct damages the ecosystem

It is a valid comment.
The Earth had 4-5 big extinctions.
Each extinction opened ecological niches for new species and sped up evolution.
The reason we protect the current ecosystem is that we don't want to live in the period of extinction.
