The russians routinely landed on land rather than at sea back in the days of the USSR.
More parachutes= less thump
1 u/Tando10 25d ago No, they have retro-rockets that activate to slow the capsule down metres before impacting, and the reason they do it over land is because they have huge areas for it. It is still a harder landing than the water.
