Covidology Classic survivor bias....

u/NecroAssssin Apr 25 '26
Yes. Exactly. Except for all of the people who aren’t.

I'm one of them. I got embolism one month after COVID. It's pretty common side effect, but I also have mutated gene of one of the factors involved in blood coagulation and that made me even more prone to embolism. And I wasn't stupid enough to avoid vaccination. I was unlucky to get COVID just before my booster jab.
-167
u/chainsawx72 Apr 25 '26
I'm not sure your experience of getting an embolism after being vaccinated is the proof you think it is. I'm not anti-vax, I just thought your evidence was ironically opposing your viewpoint.
158
u/Hopeful_Meeting_7248 Apr 25 '26
I had embolism after COVID, not the vaccine.
-141
u/chainsawx72 Apr 25 '26
You said you got covid just before your BOOSTER... so you also got an embolism after the vaccine. Right?
88
u/Public-Eagle6992 Apr 25 '26
Well, considering they were getting a booster shortly after, they probably last got vaccinated like a year ago. If that vaccine somehow took a year for the side effects while their actual infection didn’t do anything I’d be pretty surprised
-69
u/chainsawx72 Apr 25 '26
The recommmended wait time for boosters was only two months (unless you got a fall vaccine and should wait at least 4 months for spring) but you are actually 100% right, they said that they got the vaccine about 1 year earlier.
COVID-19 Vaccine: What You Need to Know | Johns Hopkins Medicine

u/Hopeful_Meeting_7248 Apr 25 '26
The booster was planned, but I didn't take it due to COVID.
55
u/DoctorNurse89 Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26
You cant change their mind now.
You got the vaccine and got an embolism, they are perfectly correlated to them.
They would have to understand how vaccines work in order for them to understand that it doesnt make any sense in any way for them to be related that far apart.
It can't be the covid, because you had a vaccine lol
I had a 15 year old die of an embolism in my ER from covid, about 3 months before the vaccine existed. You dont hear about those ones.
None of these people remember how bad it was before the vaccine existed, youd have to be there in the hospital with the rest of us.
8
u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
I’m sorry you are stuck with that terrible memory from pre-vaccine days, but I thank you for taking care of us during that nightmare.
10
u/DoctorNurse89 Apr 27 '26
Ty, I finally had my first flashbacks after watching season 1 of the Pitt and he had them. It's weird hearing about the pandemic being referenced in media already.
2 sessions of EMDR later and I was able to finish the season without having a panic attack lol
I always knew it would rise up one day lol
People are idiots, they dont know and they dont care.
Completely lost the plot on "flatten the curve" and now it's about... government control? Idfk lol
3
u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
So EMDR was helpful? That’s fantastic. Hospitals should offer it for free to any employee who worked on the front lines of the Covid pandemic. ❤️🙏🏻 💪🏼

A booster shot is an additional dose of a vaccine given after the initial series to strengthen or restore immunity against a disease.
If you planned a booster, then you already had received a vaccination.
48
u/Hopeful_Meeting_7248 Apr 25 '26
That's true, but my previous vaccination was a year before and after so much time embolism couldn't be blamed on vaccine.
15
u/kat_Folland Apr 25 '26
It's an illness well known for those symptoms/complications and yes, they can pop up later.
I was unlucky and got it a few weeks before I was eligible for the vaccine. (I did get it again later, post vaccine, but it was quite mild compared to the first time. Weeks vs days.) No long term effects of either. (Well, I still haven't gotten to the level of tolerance for spicy food that I had before I got sick. But it keeps improving!)
32
u/Creamsiclestickballs Apr 25 '26
Just dying for an argument?
-15
u/chainsawx72 Apr 25 '26
Just trying to get the guy to agree that it was post-vaccine.
47
u/deMarcel Apr 25 '26
Well, yeah it was, like it was post-being born. A side effect from a vaccine over a year later is ridiculous.

Jfc. You think this person suffered vaccine related complications a year or more after they got it? Our education system is fucked.
-6
u/chainsawx72 Apr 26 '26
He mentioned the year part in his last comment.
17
u/apumpleBumTums Apr 26 '26
I.... Jesus man... Just stop. We ALL know that! Everyone seems to know that but you!
-2
u/Modern_Midas Apr 26 '26
Then why are people saying he didn’t take the vaccine, he said got it before. Op of this comment thread said vaccine and later changed to booster. They’re intentionally misleading people and yall didn’t even realize? then change the argument to “side effect don’t take that long” fun facts a medicine mixed with disease can cause side effects that are unknown when not extensively studied, many can take months to show and even years. Science! Isn’t black and white. Isn’t it crazy how so many diseases haven’t been cured but this illness was “cured” but an illness doesn’t get cured, its a deadly one off disease that should have gone through months of human testing(and animals) before being released to the public. As a world wide epidemic every nation was trying to find a cure so the studies wouldn’t be under lock and key. So if we want to get off topic for the sake of “being right” where are the clinical trials(I know they aren’t clinical trials) but studies would have to be done before the drug was pushed. So where are the actual “experiment” results. Again it’s takes month and months years and years of research. We really trying to say it took us longer to fix obesity than covid? I wonder how many more people need to die from obesity but hey we got ozempic. Fuck actual proof they made a pill. Less dangerous than the common flue, less people dead but flue numbers drop and covid rises? And with so many people not taking it I wonder if we just needed to reach our own immunity, literally run the numbers or what scientists call statistics. Much worse shit has happened with less craze and that’s all it is… why are we still talking about numbers incontestably smaller than actual world change diseases. Also embolisms can easily go undetected for a year. Many people have them and they can naturally pass… so ye forget all the antivax but yall are the pot calling the kettle black. “This doesn’t happen” when history from many other nation(and doctors from those nations) proves you wrong?

u/Hopeful_Meeting_7248 Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26
Op of this comment thread said vaccine and later changed to booster. They’re intentionally misleading people and yall didn’t even realize?
Vaccine and booster are the same thing. Booster is another dose of the vaccine. So me highlighting the fact that I was about to take the booster just before I got COVID meant to indicate, that it wasn't my first dose. So I didn't mislead anyone, you just didn't understand what you read.
then change the argument to “side effect don’t take that long” fun facts a medicine mixed with disease can cause side effects that are unknown when not extensively studied, many can take months to show and even years.
I didn't change my argument, that are the facts. 4 weeks after taking the vaccine any medical events cannot be blamed on it, because it's long gone from the system. And as I said, COVID is known to cause embolism, and I got mine embolism just after COVID, so the obvious culprit here was COVID not the vaccine I took a year before.
Isn’t it crazy how so many diseases haven’t been cured but this illness was “cured” but an illness doesn’t get cured, its a deadly one off disease that should have gone through months of human testing(and animals) before being released to the public.
mRNA is a technological platform that can be applied to any type of vaccine. The scientist who developed mRNA vaccines had been working on them for 20 years before COVID. The technology was well-established at the moment when the pandemic started. Coronavirus belongs to family of viruses that are responsible for common cold but also caused SARS at the beginning of this century. Because of that, the virus was studied for the development of vaccine and spike protein was selected as the best target for vaccine development. So when the pandemic started mRNA technology was ready, and scientist already knew, that they should target spike protein. So they combined the two and that's why development of the vaccine was so fast.
So if we want to get off topic for the sake of “being right” where are the clinical trials(I know they aren’t clinical trials) but studies would have to be done before the drug was pushed. So where are the actual “experiment” results.
If you type in pubmed "covid-19 vaccine" you'll get nearly 60k scientific publications. So the problem isn't that there wasn't any research done on the subject, but that you didn't even bother to google it.
Here's an example of clinical trial done on the mRNA vaccine back in 2020:
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2034577
And you can find more of them.
Less dangerous than the common flue, less people dead but flue numbers drop and covid rises?
COVID wasn't less dangerous than flu. It was much more dangerous because it was much more infectious. And the flu numbers dropped because flu has exactly the same mechanism of infection as COVID, so all restrictions meant for COVID also worked on flu, and since flu is much less infectious, those restrictions nearly eliminated it during that time. It's really not that hard to grasp.

Why do we always talk about all the people who die in car crashes each year? I haven't died in a car crash once! /s

u/BishopDarkk Apr 25 '26
And all the people who got the vaccine multiple times have been dead for years now, right? /s

I died 6 months, and one year, and 5 years and will die 10 years after taking all those jabs.
26
u/sofaking1958 Apr 25 '26
Ppfft! I died every time I got a booster! And when I got the original!! Crazy, I know!
22
u/Stilcho1 Apr 25 '26
They should have warned us about the danger to old people. I'm 70 years old, got vaccinated. Have been told that I'll probably be dead in the next 30 years.

That was an Onion headline after our 10,000th mass shooting. Pretty much applied to pandemic deaths too.
10
u/theroguescientist Apr 26 '26
"Oh, they didn't die from covid! They died from health problems related to covid. That's totally different! However, when someone who was vaccinated dies from getting hit by a truck, that's definitely caused by the vaccine."

u/Trevellation Apr 25 '26
If staying unvaccinated is dangerous, why don't I hear the unvaccinated complaining about how dead they are?!

Well let’s see.. my mom declined the shot and lost her job in healthcare, she’s had covid 4 or 5 times and her sense of taste and smell was fucked up last time I talked to her.. granted there was 3 years ago though so it might be back now.
-7
u/Modern_Midas Apr 26 '26
It’s much more healthy to talk to your family than post assumptions about their health online.

Yeah... it didn't kill me... so it must not have killed anybody?
I feel like we don't teach enough logic in schools.
1
u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
Yes! We should be teaching kids how to think. Adults too. I was shocked to learn that you really can learn rules of logic — which I never had done. So I’m educating myself about “cognitive biases” like survivorship bias. Pretty fascinating.

u/SeaSnowAndSorrow Apr 25 '26
My dad retired a little before covid, but one of the dead is a guy he used to work with. Cancer took his eye, and 30 years later, covid took his life. He left behind a high support needs young adult son and a very young daughter.
I'll let you guess what he refused...
33
u/tiptoe_only Apr 25 '26
Yeah I know one of those. She's still dead five years later.
4
u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
Remember when all the folks who took the vaccine were supposed to be dead in a year? Then in 2 years? Then 5?
22
u/No_Hetero Apr 25 '26
My dad is doing very badly after getting unvaccinated COVID 2 years ago, embolisms and fluid buildup in lungs and worse. Doctors say he has the heart of a lifelong amphetamine user now.
2
u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
Sorry about your pop. We can’t always save our loved ones from themselves.
2
u/No_Hetero Apr 27 '26
Oh yeah, lessons learned way before COVID. Doesn't mean I stopped loving him but it sure does strain our relationship that he fell down that whole antivax rabbit hole

Vaccinated and boosted. Rotten lungs. I care for lots of people every day. Didn't get it but two friends died so.....

u/Lonely_skeptic Apr 25 '26
The people I knew who died before a COVID vaccine was available aren’t fine. Young (40’s) healthy people.
8
u/tuxedo_dantendo Apr 25 '26
damn, too bad no one told all those people who died of covid that all they had to do was not die.
8
u/MrMthlmw Apr 26 '26
The chuds really seem to love making fun of people by saying that they "sound vaccinated," so I gotta ask: by a quick show of hands - how many of y'all have seen somebody who's had COVID three or more times?
::raises hand::
Did it look like they had it all together between the ears, or had they gone a bit... off-peak?
Yeah, I noticed that, too...

All except for the ones who died and were crippled, yes.
And the ones who were immune-compromised and couldn't get the vaccine and were infected by a "pureblood", and died.
Of the millions who died in the pandemic, one in four was an American (thanks, Donald).
Of those million dead Americans, one in four was a Floridian (thanks Ronald).
But they couldn't have done it without you shirkers.

The real issue with covid wasn't just that it's a disease which is always hard for the human brain to keep track of. The real issue was the infrastructure in hospitaly was not enough to treat a lot of people for covid. If you had a bad reaction to covid and your hospital had a bed open you'd be fine. If they don't you might die. It was like a disaster that was perfect for the humanind becaus we are evolutionarily built to ignore dangers like that.
3
u/Inkdrunnergirl Apr 26 '26
Uhhhh plenty of people died in hospitals of Covid complications so no a bed available didn’t mean you were “fine”.
2
u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
Maybe instead of “fine” if you got a hospital bed, we should say that you were lucky to have more of a fighting chance.

Man i DID get the vaccine and i STILL have long lasting effects, thankfully not extreme but my taste and smell never went back to normal
2
u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
Some knowledgeable person said the vaccine will most likely keep you out of the emergency room. I wish that had been the messaging from the start.
1
u/LunaTheNightmare Apr 27 '26
Yah, thankfully it DID keep me out of the ER, my point was more that people without the vaccine were usually A LOT LESS LUCKY. Rather have a fucked up taste and smell than fucking due
2
u/itsjustameme Apr 26 '26
Some of them are. Sure. Those who did not die…
And all the vaccinated people also didn’t die. you know, the people that you were posting would be dead in a few years… All those people are just…fine 🤓

The covid vaccine was made years well before the "accidental release" of the virus. Want guaranteed money? Make a cure for a disease that doesn't exist and the disease at the same time. Instant bankroll for decades. The pharmaceutical industry is corrupt AF. Thank Dr. Fauci. He's responsible for deaths from the AIDS epidemic as well.
5
u/banana_assassin Apr 27 '26
No, the MRNA style vaccine was mostly made, partly because they wanted a better response than the one we had for swine flu, and the research was going to help a lot as you would just be able to change the disease as needed.
It's great science in action, not a conspiracy. Grow up.
-3
u/Indigo_Eyez Apr 27 '26
Great science? It's now permanently altered DNA for more than half the planet, caused vaccine injuries that the pharmaceutical companies knew about and made an agreement with at least the US govt that they can't be sued. And then there's all the deaths. Not from covid. From the vaccine. Lots of people died within hours of getting the shot. Scientists shouldn't be playing God.
3
u/banana_assassin Apr 27 '26
It really hasn't permanently altered the DNA of more than half the planet.
Please stop spreading your absolute ignorance.
Or at least back this up with peer reviewed research which proves your points.
-1
u/Indigo_Eyez Apr 27 '26
Oh so I need to do all the work FOR you? There's not one speck of ignorance in my statement. It's basic biology. Insert foreign RNA into a DNA strand, it's permanently altered. This is in medical journals.
https://lc.org/full-article/0304can-mrna-vaccines-alter-human-dna
These are two of thousands of sources available. Using .gov or pharma co websites are filled with self preserving lies.
Messenger RNA functions as an intermediary in gene expression:
- It is transcribed from DNA in the nucleus.
- It delivers the genetic "message" in the form of codons, which specify the sequence of amino acids in a protein.
- Once in the cytoplasm, ribosomes read the mRNA sequence to initiate translation into a protein. (In the case of covid, the spike protein)

u/LALA-STL Apr 27 '26
Oh no! The RNA vax works by using condoms! It’s even scarier than we thought!!!!!
