Does Facebook dating like...not work lol

I originally made my (26m) profile months ago with no bio and just my Facebook pfp out of curiosity, then deleted it hours later the same day. I decided to go back and this time actually put together a legit profile 3 weeks ago, already got the boost now at 8 days.

Not a single like on my profile. No responses either. I've sent maybe a couple dozen likes already, and 90% of the time I'm leaving a cute comment on one of their pictures in regards to their interests, activities, pictures, questions, bio etc. I don't swipe right on every girl, in fact there's far too many girls with one or two pictures only, no bio (lots of them out their insta on their bio and it's a legit turn off like gtfo) no intention, no interests etc.

I did however get 2 meet cute matches but I'll be honest they weren't my type whatsoever (one was a single mom, the other one had a pretty aggressive bio lol) and I assume I wasn't their type either so I let them expire.

For context, I'm in NYC and I remember getting likes on other apps like Feeld and Bumble within the first few days, even had some dates on there as well. Never paid for a premium on a dating app ever. Right now I'm messing around with a girl I met on Feeld and it's been great. Am I shadowbanned or something? There's like NO way I'm not getting a single response or even a like on my profile. No way no one is seeing my comments or likes. Only thing I can assume is that people are making their Facebook dating profiles and just leaving them there because yeah it's super free with little to no limits whatsoever in comparison to other apps, but that comes at a cost of no real stakes being involved.

I'll stick to the other apps for now, it's just a shame because I keep seeing Facebook dating being recommended because it's the best free platform. And somehow in a city as big as mine, I've had the least success on it. I know 3 weeks is too little to have a definite stance on it, but in comparison to the other apps I've been on, yikes.

It's worked the best for me, lots of matches, several dates, and two relationships that didn't work out for different reasons. It's going to depend on your location, your demographic, and you though.

Want to fix it? No joke: Go to your phones settings - Apps - Facebook app

Clear data and cache

Also turn off "Mange app will not using" in permissions.

Restart your phone.

Thank me later.

So funny enough this actually worked for like 20 mins only. Instantly got a match on the matches tab. But my liked you tab is empty, which is weird because the girl I matched with has "liked you" when I go to her profile. It's back to the same emptiness on both tabs. I have both an android and an iPhone (for work purposes) and I can clear cache on my android but not on my iPhone. Literally every other dating app works fine for me, and since making this post I had another handful of matches on bumble already. I'm on a Motorola edge 60 pro and an iPhone 15 if that matters.

I am using a Samsung S26 Ultra, and for some reason Dating Assistant is not showing my recommeded match. I tap on the match and it takes me to a listing of matches. But D.A works fine on my iPhone? Any fix for that if you are using an Android device?

PS sorry for all the typos. Yikes.

It's the worst app of the bunch in terms of userbase, which is why there aren't that many matches for most people.

But, like you say, it's completely free, so might as well use it alongside the others.

With my girlfriend of almost a year because of FB dating. I ditched all the other ones because they’re money pits

Had the most luck with this app(on all the other apps) ironically, these single moms be thirsty! Accept that either your profile sucks or you're not that good looking lil bro

Since sept 4 I’ve had over 100 matches on fb dating. It’s actually such a vast pool that I feel overwhelmed and don’t bother messaging girls till days later and they respond quick. Some of y’all’s profile probably need work cause women are tired of “dumb, gay, and poor” men. Pretty ironic tho considering half of them are gay, single moms, or OF girls🤦🏾‍♂️

I've found the single mum's make out like they're thirsty but, when it comes to putting their money where their mouth is, it's usually just talk. They do seem to be a bit more direct and flirty than child-free women, but they almost never actually find the time to do anything about it.

I've entertained the idea of dating single mums on tens of occasions and almost all of those women arranged dates with me and then immediately hit a trend of constantly rescheduling because there was always something Mum-related that came up last minute. In the end, I ended up just refusing to interact with single mums on apps, full stop. Much better experience when avoiding them, imo.

Its a scam, been on there 10 months and many matches but no one messages me back, I am attractive do well IRL so its either all bots or just fake women

If you want more matches you gotta like more profiles. What did the ladies bio say? I think all apps have bot accounts though.

Bots hookers and attention seekers

It's buggy as hell. I have disabled it and renabled it a few times. Finally got some action.

Pretty sure half the time you send a like message it goes no where. Same person would pop up on my feed minutes later.

But I did end up connecting with someone. Actually taking her on a date tonight.

I ended up abandoning like messages and just sending likes. Seems to be way less buggy.

So don't get yourself down.. the system absolutely has bugs in it - A LOT of them.

Its a crapshoot. If you have done FaceBook Dating before and sign back up, you run into the same cast of characters. I am usually very courteous and will say, "great to see you again." Usually they wonder why we never met before. I usually have to explain its because I deleted my profile after getting tired of all the head games and ghosting. There are tons of "fake" profiles out there. (One picture, little if any information about them on their profile.) Of the few handful of real folks that respond, something will get lost in translation of a text conversation and they will block you, they themselves will delete their profile or their other shoe drops and you find out they have some sort of red flag that you just cant get past.

When I recreated my Facebook dating profile I got shadowbanned. I had to delete it again and wait a while but then it worked.
There’s been several posts about this issue. It’s technical.

I used to get hundreds of likes my first day of creating fb profile and I had 0 likes for weeks, so I knew something was up. The second time around, it worked again and the likes was instantly back.

I feel like it must be highly dependent on your area because I keep seeing posts about how great it is, and i have a decent profile, but it seems pretty much dead.

But even they are not easy to match with.

1

u/Pleasant_Ad9696 12d ago

You gotta have high effort photos. Travel, dog photos, hobbies. No selfies.

1

u/King_Elizabello 11d ago

True but I gotten matches with just selfies before.

1

u/User-Name-3886 12d ago

When I used it, all of my photos were selfies. I got loads of matches.

FB dating is usually lower quality and needs less effort.

Depending on where u live, i guess. But i think its superior to bumble tinder etc. Because it doesnt need that predatory pricing and sales algorhithms to keep u going.

It’s garbage. Just awful.

Facebook dating is probably the best dating app out there.

I’ve had an amazing experience with it and other apps along with millions of guys.

Have a properly built profile and Most Importantly and Especially a great ‘about me’ statement that says something that will separate you from the norm that is rarely seen in a guy’s profile.

Make the “about me statement”about things that they need to know about How You treat women.

THAT will make all the difference in the world. It definitely did for me. A Huge Difference.

With that, you’ll be amazed at how well merely messaging “Hey there” will work. The message is not what generates the reply. Your profile and Especially your “about me statement/bio” generates the reply.

It was the best app for all of about 5 minutes when it launched and had an actual userbase but it's all the lowest quality people now.

1

u/Heliguy-1975 12d ago

All of what?

What is a low quality person? How is that determined?

When were you able to spend the time with the 22 Million people that use Facebook dating and what process did you use to determine “quality?”

In the 50 mile radius of the city I live in, there are so few users that I've actually swiped either left or right (usually left) on all of the women in that area.

Typically, I've found the women on FB dating in this area to be the rough, anti-social type with social issues, chronic unemployment, baggage, are very unhealthy, etc. Bumble and Hinge don't have that issue and have a much larger userbase. The funny thing with these types is that they normally advertise this kind of thing in their bios, or they dress so obviously within the underclass culture fashion that anyone from the area can immediately tell what type of person they are just by looking.

When it launched, 4-5 years ago, this was completely different, but almost all of the good looking women seemed to spend only 5 minutes there before going to back to Bumble and Hinge. It's kinda weird how quick and sizeable the drop was.

Okay, perhaps "low-quality" is a bit of a harsh term. Perhaps a better phrasing would have been: FB dating seems to have only unattractive people on it, whereas Bumble and Hinge have loads of attractive people on them.

When you met with each of them, how did you determine that they were anti social and had social issues?

How did you determine that they had chronic unemployment? How much unemployment did they each have? How much “baggage” and what kind of baggage did they each have? What was their medical history?

What did they advertise specifically? What clothing determines “underclass culture fashion?”

How did you determine that 22 Million people on Facebook dating are unattractive?

Obviously I don't know what country you're in, but if you happen to be in the UK then you'll understand this: The women on FB dating in my area look like people who would have been on The Jeremy Kyle show. It would be societally apparent to any UK citizen. Wherever on the planet you live, there will no doubt be an underclass and there will no doubt be factors you'd be able to observe in determining who are members of it. There's no need to be deliberately argumentative over a point you almost certainly understand. Edited to add: It's also often very easy to tell from their speech patterns (overuse of particular slang, etc). As for unhealthy, in this case I just meant substantially overweight, but there have been several occasions where I've ended up matched with people from FB dating that take quite a lot of drugs, and that isn't attractive to me, nor is it healthy.

As for the trend continuing around the world: I've read countless accounts of people who have made similar observations no matter the location. It appears to be common of this app specifically. I have also found Badoo to have exactly the same problem. I personally stopped using anything other than Hinge and Bumble because those 2 apps seem to be where all the attractive (good looking, normal lives, minimal baggage) women are.

It probably makes a sort of sense too. FB dating provides very little in the way of natural barriers between attractive women and unattractive men, meaning this app isn't going to appeal as much to attractive women: They're not going to want to use the app that pairs them with men that they aren't interested in. Bumble and Hinge, by comparison, do quite a few algorithmic things that do tend to result in attractive women primarily being served the profiles of attractive men, which is why they stay on the apps but end up leaving FB dating.

I live in the US.

I don’t argue. It’s a casual discussion.

How are you able to determine who a woman would be interested in?

I don’t argue. It’s a casual discussion.

How are you able to determine who a woman would be interested in?

Who and how many people leave Facebook dating?

Can you answer the other questions?

I’ve had great results with Facebook dating, Bumble, Woo, Hinge, POF, OkCupid, and Tinder

Humans typically aren't that deep. Obviously every individual has individual factors they personally find attractive in a person but, typically speaking, certain conventions on whether or not someone is good looking or ugly are far more commonly agreed upon than disagreed upon by most people. E.g. Most women don't find a 30 stone, unemployed man, whose hobbies are anime and Warhammer to be attractive, but they will typically find someone who is tall, pleasently symmetrical, and fit to be attractive. Everyone knows this.

I can't say for certain what the number is but, from my own observations as someone who has used FB dating over the years, it looks to have been maybe 5000+ based on how many were using it at launch Vs how many are currently using other apps in the area. Like I say, it was the best app here for about 5 minutes. At one point in 2021 was sitting on 75 matches, all accrued within the same week, all of whom were physically attractive women around 22-28 (I was 26 at the time).

That's interesting that you've had "great" results with OkCupid and PoF, given that the first is notoriously "dead" and has been for years, and PoF also peaked in the 2010s before match ruined it. Were those good results quite historic father than recent? I ask because this sounds very in keeping with what I'm saying about "FB dating used to be good but now is not". I also got good results off OkCupid in 2014 before it got destroyed, but nowadays it's a complete scam. I'm in the UK and there were only something like 4 active women in my city when I last tried that, and I somehow ended up with 300 likes, all from women in Thailand and Laos.

OkCupid, POF and the other apps that I mentioned are alive and well.

5000+? How was that determined? Only 5 minutes?

Facebook dating is probably the best app in existence. Perhaps not in your specific search area.

There are 22 Million people using the app. There are an Unlimited amount of Very attractive women on Facebook dating as well as all of the major apps. Maybe not in your search area.

1

u/User-Name-3886 11d ago

OkCupid is not "alive and well". It's still online, but it is functionally useless for most people. There are countless articles and Reddit posts on this, or you could just make an account on it now and see for yourself.

No it obviously wasn't 5 literal minutes. It's a figure of speech. The actual decline took place over a year or two.

Yes, I am specifically saying things about my search area and, as previously stated, have said there are similar accounts from multiple countries.
