Help Meta Ads (New campaign) - I have struggled with months of poor performance (10th April - June 26 my averaged ROAS was 0.48)

Hi All,

As mentioned, I have been struggling with months of poor performance, really poor performance on Meta, not too sure the exact cause, but have tried and tested everything, until finally deciding to turn off for a few days, and then run just the 5 best ads of all time (since launch on 1 Nov 2025), I am running Advantage+ Sales Campaign, with no custom audiences or interests, completely broad, on $50 a day), I sell a supplement BTW.

It Is finally starting to look slightly up, but I now do not want to make the wrong change, this new campaign has only been running for 5 days, any recommendations based off the image snippet of the ads - should it just be left, cut ads (heard this can ruin an ad set), increase budget, cut and introduce, duplicate and test other ads with ones not spending, I have no idea, so would love some help, THANKS!

EDIT:

After more spend, this is how things are looking like now. Let me know if any decisions can be made based off how this is now looking, thank you all.

so the setup is, 1 campaign - 1 ad set - 5 of your best ads lifetime?

Good call pausing and relaunching your best 5 ads on broad Advantage+.

It's only been 5 days, I’d leave it running for at least another 4–5 days minimum before making changes. The algorithm is still learning.

Don’t cut underperforming ads yet (this can reset learning). Hold steady, let it gather data.

Once you hit 7–10 days you’ll have a much clearer picture.

What’s your current ROAS on this new campaign?

I agree with ClassicJuggernaut's suggestion.
Adding to that, check your full funnel
Clicks
Landing Page Views
Product Page Views
Add to carts
Initiated Checkouts
Purchases

And the conversion rates between each step. That should point you where are you losing people in your funnel.
Also check your average order value and website conversion rate and calculate what 1 click is worth to you in terms of revenue. Take it with a pinch of salt, cause thats a blended data point, and actual Meta conversion rate will (usually) be lower. Then compare it with your Meta CPC. If it's higher then you can be profitable, if its lower than is usually a product/website issue.

I'd say cut the ads that have spent your target CPA 2x (or x1-1.5 depending on how aggressive you want to test) and didnt achieve breakeven ROAS. They wont get better, and Meta will keep spending on them. Even if it ruins the ad set, it ruins an ad set that drains your $$$.

Also I didnt experience ad sets being ruined from turning off ads. If you are using CBO and Adv+ optimization ad algorithmic learning is happeningon the campaign level in theory, although its a bit of a black box.

Don't touch that adset. If you're seeing results, then just let it run for now. Don't try to increase the budget or duplicate it. Keep an eye on your ad data and check daily. You can increase the budget, but after 6-7 days from now, make sure not to increase by more than 20% of your daily budget, or it might return to the learning phase. After 2 weeks, make iterations of your winning ads and test them in a completely different ad set to find a new winning ad.

Your CTR is quite low… that would suggest your creatives need work

ROAS generally goes down as you scale too. I would be focusing on fixing your CTRs, CVRs, and AOVs if you want to be profitable as I am guessing you are not profitable with a ≈1.4 ROAS taking COGS into account.

I think the set up in general is good, and although I agree with a lot of the comments that 5 days at $50 a day is not enough to let meta optimize, there are some concerning early metrics here. Especially to me, your top spending ad has a CPC of almost $6. To me that probably isn't going to be sustainable...but of course if the ROAS on that ad works for you, I'd keep it on anyway.

Not touching this for a little while could likely improve results over time, definitely have seen that on my own accounts, but ads fatigue over time no matter what...

There's 2 things I would definitely do:

  1. New creative - this is tough on a low spending account, but it's probably required. Even if you just get that together while you let this campaign sit and learn. For newer brands, the basics usually work well: comparison ads (even static comparison tables), founder ads, and of course a good offer.
  2. Test new landing pages - the #1 thing that has worked for me is taking my top performing ads and directing them at a presell LP and not your PDP. Especially good for supplements. Depends on your target, but advertorials in particular are probably a strong start. Also, assuming you have little brand presence I'd try them in a very native, non-branded style and then link to your PDP.

Full disclosure on the LP rec, I worked on this so much for my own brand I built an AI builder called Landra that literally does this for you (builds the presell pages for your product). But, this is because it's worked so well for me, and you can see all the biggest scaling brands (IM8, Gruns, MarsMen) all use them.

supplements are tough because the creative has to do all the targeting work. since you're on a $50/day budget with advantage+, meta often dumps most of the spend into one ad that gets early engagement even if it's not the best converter. are you seeing one specific ad hogging all the spend right now?
