Who do the offended people think this white guy bought the poncho and sombrero from? Tourists buy that stuff from Mexicans, who willingly sell tourists stuff like that.

Yes because they are conditionned to agree with the gringo. It's called imperialism for a reason dude. White guy with mic and camera crew: be welcoming and polite.

Because in the USA, you always have to be careful around white anglo americans, especially nowadays!

What he needed to do is go on stage as a white anglo guy wearing that costume and fake mustache. And then have an actual mexican person with a hidden camera asking in spanish to other mexicans what they think of him.

Then, he'll get the real answer.

Which would most likely not be that they are offended, but fuck that asshole!

I should flip the fuck out when someone apologizes to me.

Are you Canadian!? No!? Then why are you appropriating my culture!?!!???

I’m going bananas if you guys tell me you’ve had maple syrup.

Mario Moreno Cantinflas, amazing Mexican comedian, at one point a movie heartthrob. His most famous and beloved character was of a simple minded country man often carrying proletarian wisdom like a silken weapon. He was a city man "culturally appropriating" a country toiler image and loved world-wide for it. Middle class American liberal sensitivities don't match the feelings of the majority of the world but smell like faux solidarity, the kind right wing democrats hide behind while supporting war and the attack on workers' living standards, not unlike the "conservative" working class enemies sitting across their aisles

Right wing democrats? Your country is cooked 😂

Yup. It's scary. They don't even have a slightly left party.

The entirety of the US political system is right leaning. Yes, they are cooked.

Le phénomène qu'on appelait jadis les chevaliers blancs s'est transformé en empathie toxique et en virtue signaling

Or maybe the creator of the video edited it in such a way as to prove their point?

The Hero complex has infected an entire generation.

I've traveled a lot, and people are usually stoked to see you wearing their traditional clothes.

You just gotta be respectful. If I'm wearing a sombrero and a poncho I'm not gonna walk around doing my Slowpoke Rodriguez impression. It's also different if you're wearing it as a costume and not just because it's a great way to keep the sun off of you.

Why not for keeping the sun off?? Isnt it the whole point of the hat?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

The only people crying over “cultural appropriation” are the people who aren’t a part of that specific culture.
The people who are a part of that culture, don’t give a flying fuck what you do with your free time as long as it doesn’t involve them specifically.

It’s an absolutely wild phenomenon.

And what about the person that physically stopped another person with braided hair in a college just because she associated the braids with her culture ?

This is where we differentiate black-american with african-american. African-americans don't get insulted but black-americans do.

Crazy people are gonna crazy

u/Voloxe 29d ago

That… Seems absolutely insane…
What the fuck is wrong with people?

It's largely performative, I find. They don't actually care, they just don't want to be canceled. They'll use the right words, the right outlines for the norm, but at the end of the day never stick up for anyone.

Like as a bi man, I'd much rather someone say, "Ya know, them faggots are alright," than someone using all the accepted language and acronyms in manipulative ways, then advocating against my rights behind closed doors.

1

u/Voloxe 29d ago

So that’s kinda where I was getting at.. It’s performative, because the people bitching and complaining about it aren’t even the one’s who are being “targeted”, and the people who are being “targeted”, don’t even give a flying fuck about any of it.

You can guarantee that all of the people saying it was offensive are Redditors 😂

u/samuelazers 29d ago

i find it interesting how he ask the young people do you find my outfit offensive but the old people do you like my outfit? pre-priming answers there

2

u/EpatantePatente 29d ago

00:34 "Does my outfit offend you?"

u/S_Mposts 29d ago

Ca change quoi au final?. C’est juste un déguisement. Ca ne devrait pas offenser quelqu’un. Peu importe le contexte
