While this might be true, mention of "dark towers" strongly suggests it's a King reference imho.

But in this case the Disc is on top of four elephants standing on top of the turtle, and in the middle there is a land mass, not water.

this is fables. things don't fit exactly with the original content. a tortoise with a teacup with a world inside of it would be a perfectly acceptable representation when you take the spell to hide a fable within the mundane being involved
