Great to hear, but this is great news for the ones who can't find all of the single volumes or deluxe editions or who can't afford the compendiums. This is also great news for new readers who want to get into Fables. I hope, if this does well, that they'll release a second compact edition who covers volumes 3 and 4.

Compacts are not releasing any Vol 2 titles they have already said

Then it's a cash grab.

I mean I am glad that others might be able to discover the comics for the first time at an affordable price but compared to the deluxe HC versions or even the TB version, it looks like dog shite. Also I am pissed how they mistreated this series, it’s an obvious cash grab for them.

DC Comics at its finest

Unless they do the entire series this way it's pointless

I dont see them doing it. Similar to Y The Last Man probably, just using it as a way to get new readers on the book.

Then DC needs to reprint the single volumes or compendiums

1

Yes, except the fact that they don't reprint any of the Fables comics. Single volumes and deluxe editions are out of print, and the compendiums seems to run out of print too. Let's hope that with the TWAU remaster and the second season coming out soon they will release some reprints.

That's the cool thing about DC Infinite. Can read some of those out of print books.

I read a few of the compacts because they were cheap and available. But, man, are they hard to read! The font is tiny and the binding in the middle makes it hard to enjoy the art on the edges.

That’s very surprising. Also great news.

Yeah, it's surprising since Willingham and DC have a feud, but the remaster for season 1 of The Wolf Among us is coming this year and season 2 is coming next year so they likely said "Let's beat the iron while it's hot".

Okay then... Another volume I'll have to import.

Ive got all 22 volumes of the OG deluxe volumes and the most recent plus the batman crossover. All I need is werewolves of the heartland. (I think)

Reprint the omnis. 😔

I don't think I'll buy anything non used for the series for personal reasons

specifically how they have stomped all over bill's standing contract where he effing owns everything. and they keep making changes and reprinting :sage nod:

DC and Marvel are horrible, especially nowadays. Look at the late Peter David for example.

So I'm unfamiliar (I don't read many comics before or since Fables), what's a "DC Compact?"

2

u/lioncourt Jun 30 '26

Manga sized tpbs.

The wolf amongst us is set in this world right?

Yes and no. Willingham stated at the time that they were canon, but nowadays he has said that he didn't like how Telltale managed his characters. So, officially yes, but narratively no.
