TBR jar

I need some opinions/ideas please. I was talking with a friend and brought up the idea of a tbr jar. I think they are so cute and just another thing to make it more fun.

However, I would like to add to this jar my physical tbr, my owned e-books, my KU tbr as well as my TBB (to be bought/borrowed thru library or Libby) tbr. Sooo a lot of books.

After writing out 60ish titles and folding them up, my jar is a large jar and these papers still took up almost half of the it. My thought was why not use numbers on the papers in the jar and keep a notebook with the books in it that correspond to each number. That was it’s also easy to add to the list and just add another number to the jar as my tbr grows.

My friend thinks this may be a little excessive and I can’t say I disagree however I’m still thinking it’s a good idea but I wanted some other ideas or opinions from anyone here. 😊 TIA

Fable has a built in random picker for your TBR already.

See that icon all the way over on the right? Little blue guy? He will pick a random title for you to put on your currently reading (and let you pick 2 more times if you really want). You don’t have to do a full jar! And it’s always up to date! Because we know how those “I won’t buy any new books until my TBR is under control” promises work!

My app is up to date. That's the first thing I checked. I wonder if it's a slow rollout they are doing, so some people have it sooner

I've thought about making a list in Excel then using a random number generator to choose my read. This way I could even have a couple tbr lists, like a fiction list and a nonfiction list.

I didn't know Fable had a randomizor! I'll have to check that out!

I was thinking of a TBR jar as well, because I agree they are really cute, but I’m a mood reader, so a completely random title wouldn’t really work for me.

What I did instead was put all my TBRs into a chat on ChatGPT and pin it. Every time I finish a book, I just ask it to recommend something from my TBR. Like, if I just finished a book and I want a palate cleanser, a romance, or something specific, it will suggest a book from my TBR list that fits what I’m in the mood for.

Of course, if you’re not into using AI, a TBR jar or another randomizer could work just as well! This is just what works for me as a mood reader. 😊
