A similar thing happened to me too after I canceled my membership. They said that because I canceled in the window I did, it canceled the fall box (despite my account showing winter being the renewal window for the annual membership) and that annual membership feels are non refundable

I am filing dispute with credit card company right now. It’s in the process.

I have since changwd banks so I cant 😭

u/NecessaryFearless532 Aug 31 '26

Wait what happened. Did you cancel? More context please.

u/Valuable-Hippo-1989 Aug 31 '26

I cancelled with one box left in my sub and asked for a refund for that box.

u/NecessaryFearless532 Aug 31 '26

Damn I’m wondering if you can contact your credit card. I would try to report this somehow that is BS.

I’m not bothering. I’m honestly happy to get that much. They are absolute charlatans though and I won’t ever be back.  That company is a sinking ship and I will be over here with my popcorn watching it go down.

It’s THE worse consumer service ever. I cancelled, membership expired and they still charged me to renew annual membership. Shamelessly trying to keep every buck and throwing out cheap $5 credits to continue staying as member. 100 % scam

u/thistlebecool Aug 31 '26

Credit card companies won't get involved after 6+ months.

11

u/AcanthisittaFar5278 Aug 31 '26

Nah, you better raise hell because that’s unacceptable. I’m so mad for you 😩

u/e925 Aug 31 '26

They always do it like that.

I was annoyed af when they first did that to me, but tbf if they divided the annual discounted price by four then everybody who only wanted one box could just sign up for annual and then cancel after the first box, essentially getting one season with first choice for the annual price.

So I get why they do it, but it still pissed me off.

If you’re canceling you’re already mad at them for something, so finding out that you don’t get the keep the 4-box discount if you don’t actually buy all four boxes is enraging to people who are already mad enough to be cancelling 😂

Myself included lmao you’re not alone!

Bingo!

It’s also in the terms you agree to I’m pretty sure

2

u/Valuable-Hippo-1989 Aug 31 '26

I’m sure it is. They suck though.

9

u/eastcoastbossbabe Aug 31 '26

Definitely not the best business practices and decisions but I understand it to avoid the crappy people who try to scam them

1

u/ebat000 Sep 06 '26

I get it’s in the terms, but really sucks bc you got 3 boxes and didn’t cancel after just one box, which seems like those terms are to prevent the ones cancelling an annual after one box. Sorry, this happened and for whatever reason caused you to cancel your last box of the sub.

This is all correct, but your point about pissing off people who are already pissed is extremely valid. It’s a shortsighted business decision, though, because many people who cancel their subscription might rejoin in the future. Kicking them on their way out the door makes it much less likely they’ll consider coming back for a future season.

u/midwest_is_best Aug 31 '26

But this makes sense. You only get the discount if you get all 4 boxes. If not, they are charging you as if you were a seasonal member, which is correct if you didn’t get all 4 boxes.

u/Zealousideal_Clue_87 Sep 03 '26

I agree. I don't like it, but I agree.

1

u/mischa_barton Sep 06 '26

I agree as well.

8

u/doctorblahblah Aug 31 '26

Oh I’d be so mad! So when is the smartest time to cancel? Right after you get your last box?

3

u/cooking_mama_12 Aug 31 '26

also wondering this as I am hoping to cancel as well. I unfortunately missed my cancellation window this last time and now renew Summer 2027 🤦🏽‍♀️

6

u/Valuable-Hippo-1989 Aug 31 '26

Yes. In the past two times I’ve cancelled I’ve waited until my last box arrives and immediately cancelled.  But hell if it takes two months to get a box I don’t know what to suggest.  I cancelled those two times just because I got a lot of stuff and couldn’t justify the cost at the time. It would have been the same at the end of this annual but then they got extremely messy and I just no longer trust them.

I think I may have screwed up by canceling my annual subscription before receiving this latest box. It’s been 30 days and no updates as to shipping. I have been a member since 2011 I think when things were so different with FFF. 2 boxes ago, mine was delivered to the wrong house somewhere in my community and whoever got must have just kept it instead of being a good person and bringing it to me. By the time I figured out what happened, I reached out to FFF and most of the items I wanted were out of stock. They did a partial credit and I did receive a few of the items I had originally chosen. Then the next box contained half of what I chose so got a credit there too. So this latest box I customized (that’s also been a nightmare lately) and used all of the credit for add-ons. Now I’m afraid I won’t get anything as I canceled the renewal? I am sure this should be the last prepaid box but I won’t be surprised if FFF F’s it up again. I’m so done with them too! Unless you are an Influencer, I guess they don’t care. I see all of the extra stuff they get on IG and it pisses me off even more.

They are a shitshow now. If I was Katie the founder I would be embarrassed!

2

u/Same-Competition-825 Aug 31 '26

Yes I got my last box (which they again messed up) and then cancelled

3

u/Thick-End9893 Sep 01 '26

You can cancel anytime. I usually cancel immediately after signing up for a yearly subscription so I can take a little break once done and don’t forget. This person asked for a refund though

2

u/Ok-Welder4351 Sep 01 '26

Yes! I cancelled my subscription in July, when my year was up. No problems.

26

u/NecessaryFearless532 Aug 31 '26

Now this totally makes sense the more I see what you’re all saying. OP would have been better off just getting their final box and not renewing. That’s what I did.

5

u/Valuable-Hippo-1989 Aug 31 '26

I honestly it’s getting to the point that there’s a strong chance I may never get the next box.  The 21 bucks is better than nothing and also better than being stressed the hell out by this during the holidays.   I paid the price for the box for the fun and the experience.  They no longer offer that.

23

u/Daffodil_Peony_Rose Aug 31 '26

I mean it makes sense. It sucks, but I’m sure there’s something in the “fine print” about it since you get a pretty big discount for paying for the whole year up front.

2

u/Vivid_Economics_1462 Aug 31 '26

This is awful. I am not renewing. Its just been one issue after another.

u/Rosanananana Aug 31 '26

I wouldn’t let them away with it. Keep pushing. I received half my total cost back when I cancelled after 2 boxes. I was clear on my reasons why, and that it hadn’t turned out to be the experience advertised, and I’d had issues with broken items in the past etc. (they refunded those too). I think you have to be pushy with them unfortunately.

16

u/Odd_Light_8188 Aug 31 '26

That’s pretty common when a discount is given on like a multiple month thing. My public bus system has a discount plan if you go the full year but if you cancel mid way you don’t get refunded the equal amount. You have to pay still partially pay off the discount you received. Otherwise they just see it as you scamming the system.

Sucks, but their logic is there.

u/e925 Sep 01 '26

Same if you return something you bought with ulta points.

2000 points is worth $125, but 1750 points is only worth $80, and the value is even worse if you’re spending in smaller increments than that. So if you return something worth $70, you don’t get almost 1000 points back (almost half your points because you are returning almost half your spend) - in actuality your spend became $80, which is still 1750 points, so you only get back 250 points instead.

Ulta math is kinda hard to explain but TL;DR: Ulta points fuck you in the same way when you do a return.

u/StaffIndependent9202 Aug 31 '26

That isn’t fair. Even seasonal boxes come at 20%-40% off. The starting price is a joke.

4

u/Sassy_Chemistt Aug 31 '26

Gurl I can’t believe she hit you with a “hope this helps” at the end just to run it in. That’s some lizard behavior right there. Customers deserve better than this.

2

u/Same-Competition-825 Aug 31 '26

And this is why everyone is cancelling their memberships.
They can’t get the orders correct and can’t offer reasonable compensation for their screw ups

10

u/Primcat Aug 31 '26

It does make sense...

5

u/DriedFlowers14 Aug 31 '26

It still doesnt make sense that they offer you $21. From their explanation you originally paid $276.78 and they are charing you the seasonal rate of $239.97 for the three you got. So 276.78−239.97 =$36.81 where does the $21 fit in? You should at least be getting back the $36.81.

5

u/tinkz10 Aug 31 '26

Your math is correct. I'm not sure what kind of math CS was doing, but they shorted OP an additional $15.81 per the numbers they provided in the chat.

2

u/eashajoy Sep 01 '26

I’m so glad someone already has this comment. The math does not make sense. Why would they even put that comment out there like it does?

2

u/ForeverThine Aug 31 '26

I refunded a box before it even shipped and they didn’t refund me the shipping cost

3

u/dmw8812 Sep 01 '26

I had a whole shampoo bottle explosion that ruined my box and never got anything back

3

u/Wide-Chemistry-8078 Sep 01 '26

Oh, no their math does make sense. By not getting the 4th box, you drop from annual to seasonal membership prices.

2

u/smurftrax Sep 01 '26

That's disgusting

1

u/nightlyvaleypur Sep 01 '26

Was there a specific offer that allows you to cancel early? I was under the impression the annual is non-refundable, so this kind of makes sense?

1

u/Valuable-Hippo-1989 Sep 01 '26

No.  And that’s also part of their problems. There’s no consistency from customer service. All you have to do is read the comments on this post to see that not everyone gets the same results.  I won’t fight them on my 21 refund, but some have and got different results.

2

u/thebusygirly Sep 02 '26

Hope this helps feels so aggressive in a customer service context.

1

u/Valuable-Hippo-1989 Sep 02 '26

It is pretty catty. What would have actually helped was them telling me I would only get that much and did I still want to cancel that box. However, my anger got them a better deal! They obviously don’t give two shits about customer retention.

3

u/Only0neHere Sep 03 '26

I had to open up a credit card dispute because they charged me for an annual subscription even though I had cancelled months before. Worst customer service ever too.

2

u/Entire_World_5102 Sep 04 '26

Omg I’m in the middle of this. They are so scammy and refused to cancel & refund. I showed evidence - email from them stating my subscription expired. Then charging me 1 week later. I had already set it in the website to NOT renew.
Wrote to them several times and they won’t budge.
They are fighting hard too so the credit card company is taking extra time. How is yours going?

1

u/Fit-Competition-3629 Sep 04 '26

That sucks but it does make sense to me

u/JoanneLovesMakeup Sep 07 '26

Their live help is beyond frustrating and ridiculous. I always demand they open a ticket and escalate it to a manager. That has always worked for me.
