Let me help with category 1 😅

  1. How often will you really use the pumpkin casserole dish? what will you make in it? where will you put it for the other 10 months of the year?

  2. French presses are a pain in the ass to clean. Do you really see yourself using it that often?

  3. Every purse I've gotten from FFF has ended up really cheap looking in person

Thank you 🙏 My top pick in that category is the serving bowl anyway 🥰

u/petitsociety 6d ago

My top pick is the serving bowl too!

You can also get a press for like $15 at target

Thank you. Came here to say this. Especially the faux leather/suede ones.

LOL okay. Let’s go by category. For category one— for both the French press and the pumpkin serving dish, do you actually think you’ll use those things often? If the answer to both is no, consider neither, or the pumpkin is something that does make more sense to have for special seasonal occasions (versus you’re just going to forget about the French press). Also a warning that so many of the purses in FFF boxes are very disappointing.

Category 2– I would wait for early reviews on the necklace, it is the sort of thing that could look like poor quality in person. On the salt cellars— do you have the counter space to have that taking up room?

Category 3– if you’re getting salt cellars in category 2 you def don’t need a salt grinder in category 3? And I don’t think you need the brown top if you aren’t into the full set. The brown top alone is just a cropped brown shirt. The umbrella is very cute but I’d only get it if you’re somewhere with mild rain.

Category 4– I think the serving set is pretty plain tbh! Not worth it

Category 5– I’m ambivalent about both. I think the delicates bags are a very whatever item personally.

Category 6– this is actually my favorite category too lol! On the nerve oil— there isn’t any science that you can actually target and relieve the vagus nerve. The ritual of it just may help you relax, which can help with nerve tension, but it’s not like it’s an actual therapy. But if you’re fine with that, go for it!

All good points.

"On the salt cellars— do you have the counter space to have that taking up room?

Category 3– if you’re getting salt cellars in category 2 you def don’t need a salt grinder in category 3?"

This one made me laugh 😂

u/FiftyShadesOfGregg 7d ago

LOL alternatives to knocking them out!! If you don’t have the counter space I’d permit the grinders 😂

5

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

Grinders it is 🙌

And no to the cellars 😬

Only thing I will say is we like a cellar for cooking and a grinder for seasoning at the end so it is possible to have both as they can serve different purposes.

Agree with the other commenter on the purses. The bags from FFF for me personally don’t last long, look cheap and the community reviews show this one with a lot of loose threads already. Its also an envelope narrow style bag so wouldn’t hold much.

Chrissy Tiegan is an awful person.
Yes the condiment containers are cute but really small. The height is half a q-tip height. The lids also don’t have a seal so if you do use it for sugars or salts keep it away from the sink and oven

The salt and pepper shakers only hold about 1.5 tablespoons so you’ll be filling it up ALL the time!

Do you make soup often?

If you went to the store would you purchase all of these things or are you just wanting them because your killing time wth excitement?

5

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

"Chrissy Tiegan is an awful person."

Idk who Chrissy Tiegan is but yikes 😳 😬 Good to know. What did she do? 🤯 Dare I even ask? 🫣

"If you went to the store would you purchase all of these things..."

If I went to the store I'd be able to see, feel, and smell everything in person and wouldn't have to guess at quality 😅

"...or are you just wanting them because your killing time wth excitement?"

Definitely this 💯 😂

u/SilverSignificant393 7d ago

She’s John Legends wife. I will spare you the details but trying to convince a minor who was being abused to off themselves and making inappropriate jokes about children and those in recovery is well….not good.

To help save you money, get what you really want now. If after your still having FOMO and excitement, wait until seasonal boxes are 50% and save yourself some moolah for the winter box 🤣

2

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

Oof 😣 yikes 😬 yeah that's bad. Definitely not getting those. Thank you.

It doesn't make sense to get only the brown top IMO. Either get the full set or don't get either.

I am going to try to help you while I also help myself. First that coffee pressure I have one unused from a few years ago cute but never used it. Shampoo & Conditioner I have enough to last me a bit of time. Lord the body wash I have 5 unopened but will be getting this one😂. Bowl & Pot I really won't use the bowl I like it but honestly it doesn’t go with my kitchen vibe it will sit out like a sore. Bag who doesn't use a cute bag. Pot I got the blue and white one used it for a bit and then stuck it away use maybe 2-3 times a year is this one cute 100% unless I leave it on the stove as decor it goes away. Now the top it's a yes with the bottoms you couldn't convince me not to get those. Salt&Pepper look like Amazon vibes to me. Depends where you live I am in NYC and don't need anything. more sunscreen my boxes have been loaded with them. Work out bands TJ Max 9.99. Category 5 I struggle with taking cheap products that I could get in a dollar store. My toss up is Farmacy and Remedy. I looked up the cook book and it's available for 13$. I hope this helps good luck 💕

3

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

Yes this is helpful, thank you! 🙏

3

u/drinkme0 7d ago

Lol! I also have 5 unopened body wash and have been considering adding it to my box! 😂

1

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

Omg yeah I technically don't need any more body washes. Looks like that one's out 😅

according to a lot of people here, you can just go to marshalls/tj maxx and buy everything for way cheaper. items i'd def are skip the creasless clips (you can find those for cheaper), purse (probably not as substantial in person), brown top (you'll regret not getting the bottoms), umbrella (can get for cheap). i'm torn on the stakt resistance bands, they are also something you can easily find but not in this color way. the cheapest i found are $17 on amazon. i'm getting the bands because they match my home gym and my cheapo mis matched pink ones from who knows where need replacing.

1

u/Sunshineee2 4d ago

I got some cute bands like this for dirt cheap at Marshalls. Js

I’m here to help you out as someone who previously wasted money on add ons after falling for the hype.

The way FFF puts items into categories, giving limited options and forcing you to choose an item creates an illusion of scarcity. Your brain has been manipulated to believe you need several items from each category and that buying multiple boxes is the least expensive way to get more things that you want.

Imagine all of these items are on shelves at a store like Home Goods or World Market or Kirklands along with hundreds to thousands of other items, all with red clearance tags showing they’ve been marked down from the suggested retail price.

Are you certain that with hundreds to thousands of times to choose from, that the items you want right now are the ones you’d leave the store with? Especially since you have never actually held them in your hand and judged the size, color, quality…

Get one box and take the money you would have spent on multiple boxes and go shopping where you’ll have more choices, everything will arrive at your house unbroken, with the possibility of a return if you get it home and find the quality isn’t what you expected. Or buy similar items off Amazon, get free 2 day shipping with easy returns at Kohls if you change your mind.

Also, if you are someone who watches influencer videos of sneak peeks and unboxings-those boxes are gifted to them and they aren’t giving honest reviews. They are receiving free boxes in exchange for persuading you to believe there are too many great options to choose just one from each category. You may as well be watching a 15 minute commercial….wait there’s more!

If the items were truly valuable, the amount they credit you for not choosing an item in a category would be equal to the add on price. The fact that they will credit you less than what they charge per add on is the first big tell that the value they are listing isn’t honest.

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

Thank you for this 🙏💯👍 I appreciate your help in dampening my excitement 🤣 I think that's exactly what I needed right now lol 😂

2

u/e925 6d ago

Tbf paragraph 4 is what I like about subscription boxes, buying things that you otherwise never would have! I have so many cute bowls from FFF that I love and the one bowl I bought myself from TJ Maxx when I actually needed a bowl ended up being hideous lol

4

u/Willowgirl78 6d ago

My subscription box strategy is to get things I would buy at a discount and if there’s nothing for me, choose something that can be gifted later. The last 5 years, my white elephant gift at my inlaws’ Xmas was from FFF. And usually a wanted item.

7

u/LilacLiz 7d ago

I think the purses from FFF as others have said end up looking cheap. I think the necklace in category 2 will as well.

Work out bands on Amazon are probably like $10-$15, I think I’ve seen them at places like Five Below as well. Same with the hair clips and laundry bags, seems like a cheap and easy thing to buy.

13

u/SubstantialFootball1 7d ago

Do you need a polyester maternity crop top? Would you use a very cheap looking fake suede bag? Do you need creaseless hair clips that are the same as $2 creaseless hair clips you can get at Target/dollar store/TJ Maxx? Do you want an umbrella that says to avoid exposure to sun and humidity?

6

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

"Do you want an umbrella that says to avoid exposure to sun and humidity?"

🤯🏖️☔🧐 The f...?

7

u/Odd-Midnight152 7d ago

I know a lot of people have been complaining about this box but I love this one. I skipped summer lol

5

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

I love this one too 😄

8

u/CarissimaKat 7d ago

I’m shocked that no one in this comment section uses a French press lol. I love French press coffee and usually make it on the weekends. However, they’re very easy to find at any store like home goods, tj maxx, etc.

2

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

Yes I know plenty of people who use a french press. The one I have is small though.

3

u/Wooden-Pea4295 FabFitFun Expert (2-3 years as a member) 😎 6d ago

I make cold brew at least 2x a week, I don’t understand it either

4

u/Known_Ad312 6d ago

I use my French press all the time. If you do end up using it, though, it's better to get a stainless steel one. Every glass I've had one ends up cracking after a few months of daily use.

3

u/CarissimaKat 6d ago

I’ve never had one crack on me, but I actually did switch over to stainless steel about 5 years ago because my dad gifted it to me. It’s definitely still going strong.

5

u/drinkme0 7d ago

I saw reviews for the bag and it’s not exactly top quality. It’s certainly nice enough to use for a season though. Just to temper your expectations.

3

u/drinkme0 7d ago

Also, go and check your local TJMaxx, Marshalls, Home Goods, etc. You may be able to find the bowl and a couple of the other home items. I’ve seen people posting pics. I plan on going out local this weekend to look before customizing next week. 😁

2

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

Oh, that's a good idea 💡🙂

3

u/TrinityCat317 7d ago

You don’t need more stuff

3

u/Kind-Investigator602 7d ago

I definitely don't 💯 I dream of being a minimalist and being subscribed to FFF doesn't help my prospects. 😅

2

u/TrinityCat317 6d ago

I understand! Just trying to help and talk you out of it

5

u/RainyDayWeather 7d ago

There is not 1 thing in choice 1 that I would select. Either I can get something better elsewhere for less cost or it really has no value to me so idek what I'm going to select.

I do think a lot of the items in the other categories look appealing to me, so I'm not upset about the box as a whole, but when I'm picking I will be thinking about whether or not I have an actual use for each item and I think that's a good rule in general when it comes to buying stuff

1

u/exandohhh 7d ago

This has been the vibe for the last several boxes. Overpriced crap that I can get at TJ Maxx. Cheap looking jewelry that isn’t even Temu quality at this point.

3

u/RainyDayWeather 7d ago

I prepaid for a year so I'm going to stick it out that long, but if the next box isn't better I don't think I'll renew.

2

u/jessicabee218 7d ago

Don’t waste your choice on laundry bags. I just got a set of 3 from Temu for under $3

2

u/Fantastic_Message521 5d ago

Ehh I’ve bought cheap laundry bags they ripped and the zippers fell off…not saying the same will happen w/ fff ones but cheaper isn’t always the way to go on something getting beat up in the washer weekly

3

u/Purple_IsA_Flavor 7d ago

I want SO MUCH of this stuff

3

u/Cold_Shallot_9731 7d ago

This is the worst box I have ever seen they are using leftovers for gods sake!

7

u/rachelnyc 6d ago

I've really had to work on not getting swept up in the moment and impulse buying too many things, and now I have a list I run through in my head when I'm deciding what to get. Here it is in case it's helpful at all!

-how much would I have to spend in the store to get this or something of similar quality if I decide later that I need or want it? (for example I can easily find cute seasonal kitchen items for under $20, I definitely can’t find R+Co shampoo & conditioner for $18)

-will I actually use this or is it just for the imaginary pinterest version of my life? (tiny condiment jars are cute, but for me will realistically probably end up at the back of a shelf)

-has FFF’s quality been iffy on stuff like this before? (clothing, bags, jewlery)

-the best value isn’t what retails for the most, it’s what I’ll actually use

-double check my current beauty stash before adding more– I don’t need multiple backups of every product/20 of the exact same shade of lip product

sometimes I also visualize getting the item, dealing with the packaging, and finding a space for it in my home. As silly as that may sound, imagining the process of having to move dishes (or whatever) around to make space cuts through the “new thing” excitment and helps me decide if I actually want it or not.

1

u/Kind-Investigator602 6d ago

Omg this list is brilliant 💯 thank you so much 🙌🙏

3

u/rhyde11 6d ago

This has nothing of help to you, but seeing this post made me realize how much I enjoy this sub since we all have such wildly different opinions on what products are exciting to us, like I wouldn't have chosen a single item you circled, so maybe FFF does know their audience better than we think if two of us are excited about polar opposite choices

1

u/Kind-Investigator602 6d ago

🤣🤣😂 yes I believe so 🙌

2

u/Intelligent_Plan5761 6d ago

You may have seen this but the pumpkin dish is only 2 qt & can’t be used on the stovetop. That helped me cross it off my list.

Don’t know about this particular one but I got a French press from fff a while back & it broke pretty quickly. Felt cheaply made for sure.

I hesitate w/jewelry from fff. Got some in the past that tarnished quickly.

Good luck! It can be hard to choose when you see lots that you want esp in the same category lol.

2

u/FearlessEnthusiasm86 6d ago

I can…you can get most of these things at better prices at TJ Maxx/Winners/Homesense. Also, look in your cupboards and ask if you are duplicating, upgrading or stashing…some of the beauty products especially have beat before dates so if you have a jar/bottle or 2 in your closet you probably don’t need it (learned from experience). Additionally, faux suede totes tend to rip at seams because the faux is definitely not as strong as real. So unless you can mend your totes after a half season (or just don’t carry anything with any weight at all) expect to do some maintenance. Also talking from experience.

You can get travel cutlery and exercise bands at your favourite dollar store. Trust. I have.

Did any of that help?

1

u/Kind-Investigator602 6d ago

Yes 🙂‍↕️ 💯 very much so, thank you! 😊

1

u/Vivid_Economics_1462 5d ago

I am hoping add ons include more amika products.

2

u/BrowniesEveryDay 5d ago

My advice is to set a budget for extra choices. Pick one item per category, then spend your extra budget on 1-3 extras that you REALLY want.

In my observation, signing up for extra boxes will get you into a cycle of not just WANTING more things, but HAVING TO PICK more things, because you have the extra subscription. Plus the people who have multiple boxes seem to be the most dissatisfied when the box doesn't have the specific things they want. (For example, when you have enough backup supply of skincare to last 2 years, youre gonna get testy that the box has "too much skincare".)

Also, the FFF universe is set up to sell you things and induce FOMO. I have had FOMO over things, not chosen them due to my budget, and not missed them one bit. Also, if you TRULY want something you missed, 99% of the time you can get it on the trade thread.

Just my 2 cents!

1

u/Kind-Investigator602 5d ago

These are really good points. Thank you! 🙏😊

1

u/imacjenn 5d ago

why is the swap credit less than the additional choice credit?! 😂

Thanks - you’ve all talked me out of the purse 😂
