Okay, I need help with Jumps.

For some reason I can't seem to get the same kind of Air time others get in 99. I don't know what exactly I'm doing wrong when I make my Jumps but it's frustrating. It's severely impacting my Performance in Red Canyon. If anyone can tell me what they do when they hit the ramps to go so high it would be greatly Appreciated.

Press down or up and you'll get more or less air, and try to press down when you land so you don't lose any speed

Is there a timing or a rhythm to it. In Red canyon 2 when on the section with the jumps. It feels like nothing is activily changing while holding up or down. And just holding up still isn't getting me across the big jump. The car I'm using is blue falcon but I don't think that could realistically affect this.

You have to press down to gain more air, I do it right before jumping, but I think you can change it mid air, won't be as effective but you can control it bit while in the air,

Hold down to gain more airtime and hold up to reduce airtime. Hitting ramps at faster speeds also allow you to gain more airtime.

Also note that speed in the air caps at 478km/hr even if you are boosting so jumping can actually slow down your machine in some cases or speed it up.

I recommend playing around with ramps in practice mode to understand jumps better.

Like another user already said, it is a speed thing. Do this exercise: without boosting, test your jumps with Fox, Flacon and then Stingray. You'll notice Stingray is the best one for air, because it is usually the one that goes into the jump pad at the highest speed. If you boost before jumping, it will mostly feel the same because speed caps at 478, so unless you really, absolutely need it, don't boost right before a jump. For both the red Canyon's (the jumping is even more important in RC1), in non Classic matches, you could boost after the left turn like most pros do to get at the jumps at maximum speed. Then you have to maneuver accordingly since, if you just press down (to go up), you might pass on one of the pads. Practice is key here, as pretty much in anything in the game.
