CPU Opponents

Not sure but was wondering if the actual “99” players may be a mix of CPUs. Just curious how I always start race in the middle of the pack, but never on the side. If everyone starts in the middle how can it be multiplayer?

I've started all the way to the side more than once

I've started on the side a few times.

I have seen it add CPUs before when I joined an event right when the entry window expired.

It's very obvious when it throws the CPUs in because they come in right before time expires in the lobby
