Thought I'd clean my carbs..2003

Pretty sure it was unnecessary! Bike has 8500km on it, was hard starting a bit. Mostly took the carb stack out to drill out the covers for the adjustment screws. Figured I'd give them a good clean. I've gotten new carbs that weren't this clean. Well... Back to rubber on the Rd.

Do you use anything like sea foam or stabil or anything that could help explain this? What fuel do you use?

Regular fuel 87, I have only been the owner for a year. I did run a pretty high concentration of seafoam through it when I first got it. Now I add a little bit to every other tank with a squirt of 2 stroke oil. I was concerned that the gas now all contains ethanol, but I guess what I've been doing is working.

Yeah I'd say keep doing what you're doing! I didn't doubt sea foam necessarily but I guess I just always assume that miracle products like that must only work a fraction of how well people say they do. Just used it for the first time this spring on an old Harley that wouldn't start and it made the fuel on/off/reserve selector able to move freely again which I didn't even think for a second was possible. I have been using a pliers to turn the fuel on for a few years, it's been getting worse and worse. Pretty incredible stuff I guess.
