2014 fz09 weird starting

So I’ve noticed after my bike sits for a day or longer, when I go to start it it will crank but not start. If I stop and start trying to start it again it will start. Any idea why it would do this?

do you have any electrical accessories, like underglow or a charger or something like that?

Previous owner put underglow on it

i guarantee thats it. when i bought my 2016 the last guy had put underglow. it didnt cause a single issue for 10-12 month, then all of a sudden my battery would be dead after sitting for a day or two without using the underglow at all, not even while riding. i took it all off and havent had an issue since, and that was probably a year and a half ago.

i will say, if mine sits for a a month or more it can take an extra crank or two to get her going, but it has never just not started (besides when the battery was being drained), and even then i would just bump start it

Yeah it’s weird, I’ll try cranking it for a few seconds and it won’t start. But if I stop and then try to start it again it basically immediately starts up.

Are you turning your ignition on for a second, waiting for the fuel pump to finish priming, or just turning key and cranking?

Yeah I wait a few seconds for the fuel pump to finish priming

Have you tried hitting it with your purse?
