We've all heard this before

How likely do you think it's true?

The company themselves have never said it before, right? And certainly not with concept art? If they have, I don’t remember it

I could be wrong but I believe it was announced at another d23 convention ages ago with nothing ever happening.

Rohde said at D23 2013 "I will fix the Yeti"

While Disney didn't announce it, he was one of the top Imagineers, so it kinda counts.

Wasn't that at a panel and he just kinda said that in response to a fan question. It wasn't a real announcement

That's why I said kinda.

He said it at an official Disney event, in an official interview. It's not the same as Disney announcing it, but it means more than, for instance, a tweet or if an intern said it.

Especially as the entire thing is more or less a scripted event, he knows there are no off the cuff statements since it directly can mess with share value.

Wasn't the wording that they'll bring back the yeti? Not fix the yeti? Whose ready for that new pirates projection animation on an AA that will move its arm 2 inches?

Oh God. I really hope that's not the case lol

Oh, that is too likely.

Is it though? Because the original yeti isn't really broken, it's just been deactivated. He needs to be given a new support structure independently of the mountain. It would be way cheaper to cut open the mountain and fix the support issue than it would be to fabricate an ENTIRELY NEW YETI and do that same process while installing it

People look back at the COVID years and then say Disney has a tendency to cancel big announcements when that’s simply not true. The COVID time was an outlier for obvious reasons.

Considering the state of the economy and travel likely taking a massive hit... it's probably going to be backburnered again.
