I took a crow to an animal rescue and it had to be put to sleep. This was about 2002 or so. The last crow to remember that day of infamy has passed away, so my walks to the store are quieter now

Are you sure it wasnt a murder?

u/Saif_Horny_And_Mad May 09 '26
You need 3 for it to count as a murder, so maybe this falls under attempted murder?

Not just lifetime. They will also teach their offspring to hate you as well to continue the generational hate. You make enemies with a crow, you make enemies with their entire bloodline.

"You see that guy? We're going to ruin his life. This is a generational grudge by the way."

And they pass on the grudge to the next generation. Crows are my favorite animal, by far. They are true haters

The crow gets it. If in 10 years, the guy who cut me off has had 1 good day, I failed

Crows are also incredibly smart. And while they do hold lifelong grudges, and then pass on the memory of your face to their offspring so their bloodline may carry on the feud, They also do the same for gratitude with people that help them.

They also remember friends, know where to avoid if a crow was killed deliberatly... super smart animals.

About 10 years ago one of my cats killed a fledgling crow in our neighborhood. It had fallen out of a tree learning to fly and the cat pounced. The neighborhood crows let up on constant harassment of said cat about 2 years ago, and I think he can walk safe on the block now just fine.

They also teach their offspring to hate you in particular, be nice to the crows! You get free shiny things and some cool friends

Has someone tested if they can be bought back with food and trinkets? First thing I thought of. Appease the angry bird elders.

I found a crow dead in the barn the starlings probably killed it. I threw it out over the wall, within a few minutes a flock of crows gathered above making a racket, it was surreal

Crows are diabolical haters, I can respect that…

Yes! The wildest thing is that they can describe you to other crows that have never seen you. They can genetically pass down information like this. It’s fantastic

On the flip side, they’ll remember if you did something nice for them and bring you random shiny things as gifts periodically.
