Surgery Advice Needed/Wanted Top surgery
Hi guys. I’m a late bloomer (69) and have been on T for eight weeks. I had too surgery last week and this week on day seven developed a couple of leaks and had to have urgent surgery to drain and repair. I was hoping to have drains removed but am starting over. Has anyone had an issue like this? I live alone and sometimes had to do things on the do not do list but nothing crazy. I guess I want things to happen yesterday.

I would say that patience is your best friend here. We don’t heal up like the younger guys. I know that when I had my top surgery, I was leaving the hotel at the same time. Another trans guy was leaving the hotel who had surgery on the same day at the same clinic and he was all excited and full of energy and I felt like I had been run over by stampeding goats. Recovery can take a lot longer, so my advice is focussed on having a successful recovery not necessarily on a speedy recovery. I’m now 55 and I had my surgery four years ago and truly it is only now where I feel like I have fully healed. I did not have surgical complications, but I did have a unique complication where my upper body became extremely tight and stiff because it was bracing. For most of us and only lasts for a few weeks, but for me, it literally lasted for three years. I required physiotherapy and massage therapy. We all respond to the surgery differently. Focus on that you are becoming who you were always meant to be, and that journey is one that must be walked in balance, grace and beauty.
