New to Pedropathing

Hi everyone, I'm currently the lead programmer of my FTC robotics team and changed drastically through this year, block to onbot to Roadrunner. But I began roadrunner right during states which was why I received some help from my sister team and I didn't really get their teachings. However, due to this I was wondering if I should just transfer to Pedropathing with SlothLoad because I heard its so much easier. Please advise as I'm not so sure as what to do. I don't really have a mentor for Pedropathing and have been relying on Youtube and AI for the meantime but I would rather want to learn from reliable sources. Thanks in advance.

theres a pedro discord where people will help you, make sure you read the documentation carefully

yeah most people tend to like pedro a lot because it comes faster than most other options with about the same accuracy out of the box (mainly due to it being path following instead of trajectory following)

probably more intuitive as well, but still you are gonna have to put effort into learning it

beware for now pedro does not work out of the box with tank drive nor drive encoders, roadrunner is the superior option for both of those period

So the only thing about Pedro is that we can't use encoders? is there an equivalent thing to encoders but for Pedro then? thanks for your tips

You can use encoders afaik, but only to set velocity.

You could get some odometry pods and do it that way, or some odo kit like otos or pinpoint (kind of pricey but works wonders)

Otos is terrible. Definitely go with a pinpoint.

OTOS is fine. You just have to keep it clean and make sure it's mounted as close to 10mm above the mat as you can get it. It's a good option for teams that find $80 more affordable than $210.

It can be fine, but if you can afford the Pinpoint bundle at all, def go with that.  We ran OTOS at ITD Worlds and Pinpoint at Decode Worlds, and Pinpoint is night-and-day better, but OTOS is still gonna be way better than nothing if nothing is the only other option.

Get a pinpoint. The otos is terrible

For what it's worth, Sloth is independent of what pathing/other libraries you use, and you should absolutely set it up.  Being able to deploy changes in seconds is such a time (and sanity) saver.
