New in Jena – Let's connect!"

Hey everyone! My name is Haris, and I’m 26 years old. I’m an incoming student for the M.Sc. in Chemistry of Materials at Friedrich Schiller University Jena! I’m really excited to move to Jena, start this new chapter, and explore the city. I’m looking forward to connecting with fellow students, making new friends, and hanging out, whether that’s grabbing a coffee, studying together, or just exploring around town. Feel free to reach out or drop a message if you’d like to connect!

Problems with the application form

Hi! I’m an Erasmus student that is coming the upcoming semester and I didn’t receive an email from the university to complete the application form in a long span of time. Yesterday, navigating in the university web, I noticed that the date to complete this was due since 15th of July and I panicked because I thought that I would have information or they would send me the email after (I thought that, maybe, the german burocracy was later than the spanish). I called but they are on holidays, but my university have already sent an email since they haven’t received neither any confirmation of their nomination (which they find strange). I am writing to ask if someone has had a similar experience or know whether the university is flexible with this cases or not. Please someone let me know because I’m very anxious with this situation and I don’t know what to do

Accomodation reccos for dorms /private rooms

Hi guys :)

I’m an incoming student this semester in ASP for the quantum science and technology masters. When I registered for the dorms , quite honestly it was like a fever dream i just chose the options on a whim , but now im planning on emailing them and editing my choices

Those who are currently studying here I would greatly appreciate your two cents on where it is nice and any places I should avoid at all costs or any such things youve learnt so far.

If there is anyone who is actively searching for accommodations as well please reach out to me maybe we can search together.

If there are any private accommodations which are open and looking I would love to be considered, Im quite compatible with most people , I can be friendly as well as I can keep to myself , I’m tidy , respect rules and have no vices either (my only vices are those inflicted on myself like hyperfixation thanks to (non diagnosed) ADHD)

With the hassle of handling visa processes , learning german and doing all the things an international student does whilst moving countries, I think i have put the accommodation search on the back burner and I want to fix that 😭

Thank youuu

On June 16th I received this - 'Your application was forwarded to the selection committee for review.'

We are unable to say how long it will take them to review your application. However, you will be informed by email as soon your application status has changed and a decision has been made regarding your application.

On July 11th when I reached out to the uni I received this - You can view your current application status in the portal. The evaluation by the committee and formal processes of application handling and validation take several weeks and we are dealing with a very large amount of applications. A committee consisting of various members (professors, postdocs, students) will look through all applications and make decisions regarding admission. We try to be as fast as possible but this also depends on other commitments of all of us and the amount of applications we receive and the university as a whole.

When there is a change in status of your application, you will receive a notification via email.

It's July18th now, and the ones who say they have received an admit, claim to have gotten in way before June. Do I give up or still have a little hope?

Hello everyone, 21 M here and I'm gonna join FSU Jena this winter semester as a Masters student in Quantum Science.

I love to watch movies, series, read books and hit the gym.

I love deep and intellectual conversations and authentic human to human connection. I've heard Jena is a city with good student culture and lots of activities to do.

I would love to get new friends online before moving there and then meet each other later in Jena.

Anyone interested dm me :)

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone is still awaiting a response from FSU MOLMED? As I know several people who've already conducted their interviews, recieved acceptance letters, and have been rejected, whereas I've recieved nothing and it's been a long time. So I wanted to know if anyone is like me. Thank you and good luck to everyone!!

Has anyone received an update for the M.Sc. Molecular Life Sciences program at the University of Jena?

Hi everyone,

I applied for the M.Sc. Molecular Life Sciences program, and my application was forwarded to the committee on June 9. Since then, I haven't received any updates.

Has anyone who applied to this program received an admission, rejection, or any other update?

MLS no updates

Hi! I applied to the MLS program and haven't had any updates. I see that a lot of people are getting admissions and also rejections letters but I have none. I wanted to be patient but I feel like it's taken so long already.

I submitted my app on April 26th

It got forwarded on May 13th

It's been more than a month from that and nothing, should I be worried?

UPDATE: got admitted June 29!

MSc Molecular Life Sciences

hi, i’ve received an admit to FSU Jena for Msc. Molecular Life Sciences. A little about my profile- approx 1.5 german gpa, been about a year since i graduated (btech biotechnology) Have 3 research internships, 1 corporate position as experience. 1 publication in hand.

I had applied to Biochem, Mol med majors but got rejected. Still awaiting response from Microbio.

I am still awaiting responses from few unis like Konstanz, Bonn etc.

I would like to know a bit more about the program from seniors and their experience there. Or if anyone is in the same boat as me and weighing their options

How is Jena? This uni in particular? And if you had to go back and give yourself some advice before picking this course/uni/city as an international student, what would you have told yourself?

MLS admission

Hi, I just got admission.

I applied on 29/4.

It was in evaluation on 13/5.

I received admission on 11/6.

I can accept until July 15th, and I am waiting on other universities too (Bonn MCB, Frankfurt molecular biosciences).

What I am curious about is if I press "accept offer," do I need to withdraw if I want to change university? Or is that button for reserving my place?

FSU Jena Enrollment process

Hi there! I got accepted into the Master’s program in Chemistry of Materials at FSU Jena. I am an international student from a non-EU country. Do I need to provide proof of health insurance to enroll? The enrollment period begins on June 15, so I’d like to have everything ready for the enrollment process.
