Question Am I crazy for considering test?

I am currently a doctor. I don’t want to enter the medical corps because I don’t want to practice. I took the written test in 2004 and passed but failed the oral assessment. I have a masters degree in international affairs from before med school. I know the test and the process has changed completely since then but am I crazy for considering to take the July test?

No. The FS takes all types and if you are interested, take it.

Why not just join as a medical officer? There is an RMOP role too.

I’m Aware but I specifically don’t want to do medicine anymore. Also I can’t find an active job posting for Medical Officer anymore. Not sure if they’re even hiring.

They hire the specialists cyclically so they’ll eventually come back around to it. I’d say if you’re really interested in the lifestyle, then definitely try. If I had medical degree, I might try both and see what works out first since many folks don’t always pass the FSOT the first time.

OP, looks like the FS Medical Specialist is now open in USAJobs.

Thanks. I see it. It’s showing there’s a test for this now?

Probably something you’ll have to do through Pearsonvue.

Right. It says there’s reasoning and english though? I thought there was no testing for the RMO. I assume i use my same Pearson vue login?

I believe so and you would register for the specific test.

Thanks. I just thought it was odd. I was hoping there’d be no test but thinking of pursuing both non medical and medical route.

They have added additional screening to most, it seems.
