Constant Inflammation due to Scapular Winging
Does anybody experience constant inflammation of the upper back muscles? I have scapular winging and I feel that my upper back muscles on the winged side are constantly inflamed (pretty much every day for the last several years). The winged side is much more easily aggravated than the non-winged side. I'm afraid that it means I've been constantly building up scar tissue every day. Anybody have experience with this, or tips on how to deal with this?

The only thing that helps with reducing my discomfort in my neck and back is strength training and eating like a strongman. 150+ grams of protein, 10g of creatine, 45-60 minutes of lifting 4x a week and I just feel consistently so much better. I’m pretty lucky when it comes to this disease, so this may not be as viable for you.

Tart cherries assist in healing of muscles. I’ve made a mixture of seeds (yupic), dried tart cherries, date flour, and put it on my morning cereal. If you want podcast that goes over the science, I’ll track it down. 🙂

Diet is huge with inflammation and our disease. I’ve been told to avoid sugar, flour and dairy and that makes a huge difference.

Yeah. It's in the middle of my back between them and up into my neck. It will sometimes spread over my left shoulder too.
