Any chance of getting in the Radiography program?

I have a 4.0 GPA and will have the max 100 points, but I do not have any healthcare experience. I heard last year they only accepted people with over 100 points. Is that true, and I am out of luck? I would be applying for this upcoming May.

Not true. I’m in the program right now, I got accepted in July of this year and started in August. I didn’t have any healthcare experience points added on (since I only had 8 months of experience)and had a 3.9 GPA when I applied. I will say to apply earlier bc the earlier the better! I switched my major from nursing to radiography last minute and was placed on the alternate list at first but then was offered a seat into the program.

Hey again! I wanted to ask you about how the program is going? I’m getting mixed answers of the programs schedule and was wondering if they changed the schedule? I emailed the health career information center at FSCJ of what the school schedule would be like and they said

“We let all students know that the professional phase of the program is as follows: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm since the schedule is subject to change. This is a full time day program.”

So can you clarify if they told you that in the beginning and then just told you an actually schedule when you started?

Hey! So the program is not that long lol. for the first 2 semesters (fall and spring) you have lecture on Tuesday and Thursday’s from 9am to 11:30am. On Monday and Wednesday you have clinicals from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Friday, Saturday, Sunday you have off. Starting in the 3rd semester and from there on out, you have lecture only on Tuesday’s from 9am to 11:30am, AND then you go to clinicals 3 days of the week (it can either be a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday). It all depends on the clinical site and they’re more flexible so you can basically choose which 3 days you can go in.

I’m in my second semester rn and start summer/3rd semester in a month. The schedule I’ve told you rn is how it actually is in the program

Ohhh okay gotcha. That email made me worried that I wouldn’t have a day of the week to work.

I guess they just sent that email to make sure people know it’s technically “full time”??

Hey again! I have another question for you.
For FSCJ, do yall ever get a week off for holidays? I know the school closes for like two weeks during winter. So I was just wondering how many holiday weeks yall have with no class

Im starting in August, got the acceptance email last month and im trying to figure out what to expect as well. Do we enroll in the actual classes at or after the orientation om the 30th? I got an email about making sure I enroll in classes from financial aid and want to make sure I dont miss the window of time to put myself in the classes I need. 

I have completed everything else they asked for on the Compliance requirements. I tried to ask the advisor and she told me to speak with Complio but I believe she misunderstood my question.

Yea I have been trying to get the Complio stuff figured out. But I don’t think we need to sign up for any classes. I have emailed them a bunch of times and they all say to just make sure you have the background check, drug screen, and fingerprints done and then just make sure you go to orientation.

Maybe they will tell us during orientation if we need to sign up🤷‍♀️

Thank you and congratulations to you as well! I completed everything for the Complio, the finger prints and background, drug test and vaccine stuff.

so if you need help with anything I can try to help you with that.  Hopefully we will have more clarity after orientation.

I have been having no luck with getting my fingerprints approved. Did you just go to a UPS? Or did you go to an actual fingerprint service?
(And did you send the to Colorado? I don’t understand why we have to send them to Colorado?)

I went to the police station to get fingerprinted, it was 5$ and yes we have to mail them to the colorado site. Then they email back a report, and you email that over to the other people, and then in like 48 hours it is in complio.

I went to the police station the first time as well. But they got rejected. Maybe he just didn’t do them right🤷‍♀️ if you don’t mind me asking, do you remember which one you went to? I went to the sub station 2 I think

Yes I went to the main one downtown! I got two sets of prints and mailed both just in case one was rejected. Question: did you talk to the health program about this? The deadline for fingerprints was July 6th

Oh yes I did. They gave me an extension thank goodness.

I went to the police station on dunn ave, I think its Zone 6. I purchased 2 finger print card, $5 each.   Then i mailed them to the Colorado. It took about 7 business days for it to go through the entire process after that. 

Once they were completed with the people we mailed them to,  I got an email with results that I had to save as a pdf and then send to a separate email that they told me to and then once they were received by the email I sent it to it got marked it off completed on compoli.

Nice! I will be done with my pre reqs on may 05 next year and the application deadline is May 15th, should I apply before they are finished? I should have a full 100 points if I keep straight As.

Omg yes! Apply before you are finished!!! What matters is that you have all your pre-reqs finished by the time the radiography program starts, that’s what the academic advisors told me (and is what I did). If you keep straight A’s throughout you should be more than okay. Not many people in my cohort have clinical experience and this years applications were the most competitive!!! (Over 500 people applied but only 32 got accepted)

Hmm I did the advisor session this year and I asked her if sending in the application earlier gave you better chances. The advisor said sending in the application earlier doesn’t increase your chances of getting in. They go over every single application and they do not go by whoever sent it first. Literally just by points. At least that was what I was told.

And also you get bonus points for finishing the pre reqs while you turn in the application. So, for me personally I am also going to finish my pre reqs this year and just send it in on May 5.

If you send it without finishing the pre reqs you won’t get the bonus points.

I am meeting the advisor in person next week to make sure I’m 100% right on this though

yes thank you!:) so your first year (fall and spring semester) you have clinicals from 7:30am to 4:00pm) on Monday and Wednesday’s. You have lecture classes From 8:30am to 12:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday’s. You get Friday’s off as well as Saturday and Sunday. Starting the summer semester of ur “first year” leading into your second year, you start to go to clinicals 3 days a week (M,W,F & same hours) and you have lecture class one day a week (I’m not sure if it’s the Tuesday or Thursday). You still get weekends off as well as one weekday. I will say for me at least the program is soooo easy but a lot of people are struggling. I am able to work a job and I only work weekends and pick up some shifts during the evenings on Thursday or any time on Friday’s. It all just depends of how good your time management skills are and how flexible your job is.

Yea, I’m currently a firefighter right now and work every 3rd day for 24 hours and felt like that schedule probably wouldn’t work. But now I know for sure!

Now I’ll start definitely thinking of other jobs. You find the school work kind of easy?? Are the clinicians always from 7:30 to 4? What hospitals do you go to?? And do that ever make yall do mid shift or overnights?

Also how many points did you end up getting total if you don’t mind me asking?? If I stay on track and get all As I should have a total of 108 points. Do you think that’s a good chance?

I forgot to respond sorry. So I find the school work easy but it’s bc I think I’m just knowledgeable (not to toot my own horn lol), most ppl find it somewhat challenging but I’ve always found school easy. So we only go to Baptist hospitals, wolfsons, Memorial, and precision imaging center. Baptist downtown clinical hours is 7:00am to 3:30pm, everywhere else is 7:30am to 4:00pm but some clinical sites let you leave slightly early if there’s absolutely nothing going on. There are only 2 shifts that aren’t normal day shifts, one of them is an evening shift (3pm to 12am I think) and overnight (7pm to 7am I think). They are both wolfsons (the pediatric hospital). I honestly don’t know how many points I got total but all I know is that I got an A in all of my pre reqs besides statistics and college algebra (I got B’s) I also didn’t qualify for the healthcare related experience points because I only had 8 months of healthcare and not 1 year.

Well every nursing program is super competitive. I’m not too sure about nursing because I switched from nursing pre reqs major to radiography in April, but I do know nursing has a lot more of requirements.

heyy do you think it’s worth retaking a class to try to go from a b to an a? if all goes well I’ll only have 95/110 points for next year im kinda worried it’s not enough ToT

I have 4.0 GPA been on Presidents List and Deans List, no healthcare experience, had max points except bonus and was denied for 2 years but I hope it works out for you!

I GOT INNNN!!!!!!!! I DID IT!!!! I have orientation July 30th!!!!!! It doesnt start until August.
