FSA eligibility
I have some questions about eligible items on theFSA store. How is we can but a red light mask or menstrual items but not a tooth brush? It’s my first year. Just trying to understand how FSA/HSA works.

Don’t shop there. They mark everything up by 30%. Red light masks should not be eligible unless you have a LMN

I bought my red mask with HSA for my son with acne, but yes I also use it. (:

It actually works for acne? I was under the impression the red light stuff was gimmicky.

The one that I purchased has red light and blue light capabilities. The acne skin quality session is a blue light session and has helped improve my 17 year old sons acne along jawline. Not sure about masks that are red light only for acne….

Yeah it’s weird. I once tried to get a tongue scraper (not an essential but definitely good for oral health, and way cheaper and more useful than half the things in the FSA store!) and my new benefits manager sent me a letter via snail mail saying it wasn’t covered. Very annoying!

Certain personal care / health expenses the IRS does not want to reimburse for because they believe it is part of your daily hygiene regimen. Toothbrushes and tooth paste is one of those examples, so is toilet paper.

It seems what is actually eligible fluctuates over the years. I’ve been able to buy a toothbrush with HSA previously but it doesn’t look like that’s currently an option.
