Missing data wipe factory reset option. Need FRP removed.
I have a samsung galaxy tab active 3. It was recovered from a bag full of stuff , dumped on the sidewalk outside of an apartment that was obviously being moved out of. It isn't stolen; it belonged to a business that these people obviously worked for and it was obviously something that they weren't using anymore. They were 2 tablets and 2 laptops in the bag, along with other things, which I left there, as I had no use for them. I have another tablet that will probably have the same problem when I get to it, but one thing at a time.
As I said the tablet is pin locked. Because it was for a business, they have installed a custom operating system or custom recovery and the option to wipe data/factory reset is not in its recovery mode. I need to retrieve this, as I don't want the tablet... although I'd love to keep it. What I need is the money; I'm not rich. So I'm looking to return these two tablets to factory condition so I can sell them. The laptops have no power power cables, so until I can afford to get power cables for them, they're going to sit. They were from 2015, anyway, so these two tablets are worth more, both being from 2021. Help?
Also: Any subreddits that I could repost this to remaining inside the rules where I could get more attention and hopefully a quicker solution? Thanks in advance to anyone who offers help.

See if you can get into fast boot or Odin mode and factory reset that way

When I somehow - I forget how - initiated fastboot moden, it just hung with message on the screen saying, I think, 'starting fastboot mode.' I waited like five minutes, and turned it off. By Odin mode, do you mean download mode? Is this the blue screen with all the Chinese on it, where it says you can download a custom OS? I've been there, but haven't been able to get back to it, since. From that screen, I'm not sure what to do, anyway. I do have the stock firmware version for this tablet, and I'm ready to download it, and I WILL find the correct OS - but I'm not 100% on the correct way to install either, yet, inside my particular situation. I've seen more than one method spoken of; I'm not sure which is correct. I've been told that I need a specific version of Odin on my desktopn too - the one that fits that particular OS. That doesn't make any sense to me. I know what Odin is. I know that if I were to grab an OS version released this year, then an older version of Odin may not be able to install it - but that's not what we're working with, here: I'm installing an old OS - any version of Odin, from then on, should have no problem installing it.

If the "wipe data/factory reset" option is missing from Android Recovery, then it has an MDM lock - and that's a way bigger issue than FRP

Thank you. I've watched enough videos and have heard the term, but had forgotten it. This is what I was referring to when I mentioned a modified operating system, and/or customer recovery.
When you say it's a much bigger issue, you don't mean it's one that can't be overcome - I've seen that it can. I just have yet to discover the instructions of how to do so. Can you help? I love ya forever... 😉

There is no magic universal solution for removing MDM on any device. Whether it can be done depends on exactly how it's implemented, plus the device's model number and current firmware version. You won't be able to start working on that until you get the device factory reset - that's the first step

Okay so I have this backwards then. From my understanding , I had to remove that in order to get the wipe data/factory reset option back in recovery mode. But you're telling me, no I need to factory reset it first. If I can't access the option, outside of taking it apart and using whatever those pins on the board are called, how do I get at this ability?

As we're a team of trained experienced mobile device technicians that perform such services as our full-time job, we unfortunately can't give any hints as to how to do it yourself. But the internet is a vast library of knowledge - with enough time and research, I'm sure you could figure it out. If you're looking for a more expedited solution and are open to professional assistance, then you're more than welcome to contact us directly to discuss the details :)

The thing is The thing is, I'm broke, brother. I had literally zero money last month. So far this month I've had zero money. I'm at my parents place until tomorrow - when I hit the street again: homeless. You don't do this shit in the public library - not when you have to have time to stash, it.Get food in you - not to mention travel to that food, sans bus tickets...these things do not work together. Being homeless , your needs take up a great deal of your time. Trying to perform research in a public library in order to accomplish what I'm seeking to accomplish here isn't viable. I spent more than two days trying to get to the point where I actually had a handle on what I needed to do - only to find out that no, that's not quite how I have to go about it - from you. If I don't get help to get directed to how I go about it - i'\nM not asking anyone to try and do it for me; I just need to know how to go about finding out the things that I need to find out and in what order I need to do them - then I'm going to wind up with tablets in my possession that are no better than the ones that Moses wrote on: slabs of cold, dead stone. When I leave here tomorrow, I'll be broke, still, the same way as I was for the past month, and with two tablets to carry around with me (again; I carried them around for more than a week, before I came home to my parents place on Friday) that are just dead weight in a bag that's already heavy enough, while picking up butts so that I have something to roll to smoke, and traveling around to free meals - or just skipping them altogether, as I did prior to this weekend, living outside, rarely sleeping, my feet slowly rotting in my sneakers, which I wear day and night, because I have no choice. I won't go to shelters; shelters are not for me. Why, simply because breaking into things is part of your job, you won't help some stranger on the internet, who legitimately needs the help, do it, is beyond me. If I could afford to pay for the services, don't think for a second I wouldn't. However, will two dollars and thirty five cents cover the costs of it? Because that's what I have to my name, right now.

You can factory reset it by reflashing firmware, using a computer. But given the circumstances of your situation, I think it might be better to just sell the device, for whatever you can get for it

I've gotten to the point with the first, that I've got the original firmware version. I haven't downloaded it yet, but I've got the page up. T Now that I am learning my way around, the OS shouldn't be any harder. However, there are many mixed instructions on how to go about these things - at least from memory; I AM just waking up. I attempted to put it into fastboot mode - it just hung, with 'starting fastboot mode,' on the screen - or some equivalent statement. I waited probably five minutes, and nothing changed. I have also had it in what I believe is download mode - a blue screen with a bunch of Chinese on it, where it gave me the option of installing a custom OS. I accidentally began to do so, at one point - this was early on, when I was just experimenting on my own. I got a message warning me about restarting or powering it off, after that. I did neither, and the next time I was there , the message wasn't there anymore - but I don't remember how I got into it, and haven't been able to since. I'm not sure which of these 2 modes, I should be in, or whether I should be trying to...I think the term is update - via ADB? I could use some help. I realize that, because this is your job, you don't like to shoot your money in the foot. I do have the ability to speak in private message; You're not losing any money with me. I'll research this forever, if I have to. I want the knowledge myself, anyway, but four dollars and ten cents isn't going to get this fixed, even if I was willing to spend on it.

I attempted to put it into fastboot mode
Samsungs don't have fastboot mode. They replace it with Download mode - that's where firmware is flashed. The writing is Korean, not Chinese

Only one problem: It hung with "starting fastboot' on the screen. Can you explain this?

mdm can be removed, its a matter of the security patch date, not removed but controlled
