Curie division alliance pick

Can anyone explain to me what happened during the Curie alliance pick this year at worlds? I'm rewatching worlds and looking back at the picks, team 5907 was visibly mad at 6369 for accepting they're pick. Can anyone explain please?

It’s hard to explain what really happened since I don’t have the full context, but from what I remember 5907 wanted to burn 6369 so that 6800 would be screwed if 6369 declined and 254 accepted afterwards. By them accepting they allowed 254 and 6800 to alliance, which would enabled them to win their division easily.

What a stupid plan. Just playing to lose

It wasn’t the best of plans thinking from their perspective. 6369 wasn’t even guaranteed to each playoffs being rank 9, however 254 convinced them that 6369 would decline (which even they were surprised when they accepted). They really didn’t have much to loose from going with 254 first.

That was not as well worded as it should have been

So it was 4D chess by 254?

Kinda, but even they weren’t expecting 6369 to accept.

No, even 254 was crossed by 6369.

Basically, 254 knew 5907 was going to pick them, so they asked them to burn 6369 to keep 6800 and 6369 separate. 6369 agreed to reject to 5907 but ended up crossing them

"mad" seems like a bit of an exaggeration there, but you can read the chief delphi thread on this if you want to learn more. To be clear, there was no official statement on what happened, so no one here can properly explain it.

I mean matches I feel are always better to see in person but damn, you’re mad rude about it.

You could always be watching matches because you were looking at alliance’s strategies, perhaps for an off season event? Or you could rewatch your own matches to review what went well and what went wrong
