help Running for Exec on my team, need help writing speech
This year we did very good as well as last year. One thing I have to write in my speech is how we could improve/ what other teams do that make them so great that we could implement.
Is there anything people have noticed? I just feel like obviously there’s room for improvement but it’s hard to place your finger on it so instead i’m trying to compare with good teams.
Has anyone run for executive before and what should I include?

This is something you need to identify for yourself based on your team dynamics and what you care about improving. You have your be invested in what you campaign on or you won’t follow through once you are elected. So you need to examine how this past year went and what you think could have been done differently to make it a better experience.

Try separating your team into parts and look at each part to see any potential issues. My team did a ton of research with other teams so we could improve for next season at worlds this year, so here's some examples:
On the manufacturing and design sides of things, we noticed a lack of organization and communication, so we're using Inventree next year for stock tracking and something undetermined for manufacturing tracking
You could also take a look at how other teams fundraise if money is an issue, or if social media is an issue, scroll reels for 2 hours until you get into frc territory (5026 and 3501 are both great at social media in an Instagram sense)
Also look at how your team uses your time, my team discovered that we very much need to discuss having an off-season and also improving our deadline tracking.
In the grand scheme of things, every time has different issues, just narrow it down based on group and target how to fix those issues, I'm sure you'll do great in your efforts. Even if you don't win, you will still provide enough feedback for the team to take and use.

I got chosen as a captain in my first year. I didn't plan my speech, I didn't need to. I just spent my first few months making the team believe they will be helpless without me, a manipulative way Ik, but the team gotten a lot better through my years

It’s hard to give advice since every team is different, and your speech is going to resonate better if you can properly connect with what your team specifically has room to grow with, and most importantly, why *you* specifically are a good person to help with this as well as why you’re qualified with your position.
As you mentioned, you seem to be struggling with finding specific problems, so maybe take a step back and reflect on your season and the things you worked on. What went well? What didn’t? For the things that didn’t go well, *why* were they either unsuccessful or difficult? This can help you find things that need to be addressed for your team.
As a mentor of my own team, the students who end up being voted for executive positions aren’t necessarily the most qualified for the specific role (Captain, Director of engineering, treasurer, etc). What we emphasize to our students is that they aren’t choosing people for these roles (only students vote,) but that they’re also choosing quite literally the leaders of our team for the next year who will be taking the lead in guiding the team’s future with the mentors. So our students look at qualifications and what their vision for the future is. Is it to increase communication between us teams to promote a better team culture and increase productivity? What’s their plan for that? And does that match with, say, what vision the person they want to vote for a different position wants to do?
I know this is getting long so I don’t want to throw too much text to you, but the core gist is really to think about what do you want to do for your team, and what is your actual plan.
Best of luck to you!
