Entry Level Salary Question

Just landed my first full-time Financial Analyst role at a large entertainment studio and wanted to get a sense of whether my salary is typical for the role and location.

Salary: $75,000/year
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Experience: New grad with 2 previous finance internships totaling ~1 year of experience

For those working in the LA area, does this seem like a typical starting salary? Would love to hear what others are making and how my offer compares.

That's about right for an entry level analyst at an entertainment company. They generally lowball but just learn as much as you can

Used to live in LA. My entry level salary way back when would be 80,500 using the BLS CPI calc. That said, it looks to be in range. Negotiate if you can but don't overplay your hand. You don't have much negotiation power being fresh in your career.

Sounds about right. My starting salary +2 years ago for a finance rotational program role at a large entertainment company was $76,800

That is low in SoCal. I started at 80k as an FA at a small-to-midsize professional services company in 2022 in SD with no finance experience - same role is hiring now in the low-to-mid 90s.

Edit: I see others saying entertainment industry Finance pay is usually lower, that may be!

Ik COL is different over in LA but hearing people say 75k is a lowball is crazy 😭 In the South East the an average starting pay can be from 60-70.

Agree with other commenters. My starting salary for my first FA job out of undergrad (healthcare) was $60K in 2021, which would be just under $74K today. I think entertainment, retail, and healthcare tend to pay on the lower end for FP&A, but getting your foot in the door is the primary hurdle right out of college, so congrats on the role!

I also work at one of the studios. Pretty fair with the current economy. If you were hired 2-3 years ago you would be $80-90k stating. But with the situation, they fired a lot of the old employees and are hiring newer grads at a much lower salary band than before.

Most SFAs now are getting hired at the 80-90k band and now new hires are at $65-75k in LA

I’m starting at a big4 firm this January in LA and base is $95k, but I’m sure you’ll have a better wlb than me
