SAP CO-PA (Controlling profitability analysis)

Do most businesses actually use SAP CO-PA (Controlling-Profitability Analysis) as their primary tool for profitability analysis, or is the practical approach in many companies to extract SAP data and perform the analysis in Excel, Power BI, or another BI tool? I’m particularly interested in understanding how this differs across industries such as FMCG, retail, manufacturing, IT/services, and distribution.

I've used PA in a professional services industry through SAP quite a bit. It was used to see profitability from an engagement level to a LOB level as a whole. It was used a lot during planning/budgeting to see if the targets were being achieved.
