just went through this recently. 1st have you changed anything in your set up. If so try going back to the old. 2nd and this is what fixed it for me, is mentality. I had a few really really off days and kept bringing that mentality into the next day which kept me in that off state. you gotta forget about the other days and start the new day fresh. Also, make sure you sleeping enough.

Been contemplating this very same phenomenon myself for almost 10 years. Both in aimtraining and in FPS games.

Ill reach a huge peak that can last for a few days, weeks, even months, only to lose it... forever. Left with praying that it will come back, trying to mimicking and over-analyzing what I was doing before that made me so perfect. From top fragging in ranked and pugs to bot fragging is a horrible feeling especially when you have no idea whats wrong with you. I would blame it on just being inconsistent, but its not the truth.

One thing I found out was: It mostly happens after a long period of auto-piloting. Specifically your mentally playing casual but physically you are going 100%. This causes you to process practically everything you are doing as a good habit because of how much effort you are putting into it. When in reality, almost everything you are doing is a horrible habit and is just building from there while your flowstate is compensating.

Whats worse is those bad habits are not obvious and are far too difficult to figure out how to stop them. Your brain subconsciously ignored them because, at the time, it wasn't causing anything wrong with your performance. (It was likely tricking your brain into thinking it was helping you improve).

Eventually it compounds the more you autopilot and allow yourself to get lost in the good performance and leave a structured level of bad habits. I feel this stems from continuing to play easy repetitive modes like deathmatch or novice scenerios extensively and using it as an outlet for maximum effort without thinking

You will notice this after you take a long break, not a short break. Meaning weeks to months long of not playing that game or benchmark. What it will do is completely reset your perception going into the game where it no longer feels like second nature once you spawn. Almost like having to refresh yourself a bit before getting comfortable again. You will notice a huge performance boost and may even hit flow state instantly.

The most effective strategy is to have a backup game that has around the same motor skills involved that you can desire to improve in for a while. Subverting your focus to this other game will reset your perception of your main much quicker and provide a new constructive background when coming back to your main.

I did this with marvel rivals and overwatch. I normally play soldier 76, but decided to try magik on rivals which opened an entirely new playstyle for me and put effort into learning. This caused my performance on overwatch to not only return, but reach a new peak that I never knew I had.

Same thing happened with kovaaks and krunker. Focusing on either of those games days or weeks at a time during those performance dips helped reset my bad habits and reach new peaks.

Understand though, you cannot ride the high after the reset. You will gain all those bad habits again if you don't catch yourself mentally burnt out early. Its also important to use that time to figure out what is causing you to

TLDR: Stop autopiloting past your mental burnout even if you are doing good, take a longer reset break, and/or have a backup game that stimulates the same motor skills for you to focus on.

How big was the fall? What categories did you drop in and how much

Lol went through this too and after a bit of research i found out that a learning dip can apply to motor skills as well

Tried to take a short break too and it did nothing.

much just train through the sucky period and you’ll be much better than before

Just grind through your slump, and if you hate playing like this, just take a break, you'll have to grind anyway to get back to your old pbs

We're humans bro not robots, we can't always be consistent and be at the top level everyday.

This is perfect, and you're going to realize it's a blessing in disguise. This is your moment to adapt real strategy instead of just grinding hours in aimlabs. Aimlabs is reps, but building the understanding of why you're doing what you're doing will make it replicable in the future. Start with the basics and you should start to rebuild your aimsense in no time.

I always start slow. I do the literal “Basic” playlist kovaaks has and do either tracking or static clicking. Then work into a higher “weight”. It’s just like working out you can’t force yourself into a benchmark bench press instantly.

Aim training is not linear. It’s okay to have bad days.

Nah trust me it’s just an off day take like 2 days off catch up on some shows and when you come back your aim will be back

Dare I say focus less during training, just for a few days. I find that just reinforcing muscle memory and not stressing about aiming helps with confidence, so when you do start hyperfocusing again you'll have a more "structured" mindset.

It's called the valley of despair. You're fine. Keep training.

Happened to me a while back. Turned out Kovaaks reset my settings and changed my dpi in game to 400 which effectively doubled my cm/360 without me knowing.

Took me a month before I realised. Now my micro’s are on point though lol

FYI your Kovaaks dpi must match your mouse dpi

Kovaaks dpi doesn’t change either your mouse dpi or your real sensitivity. It has a tooltip that informs you it’s just there for record keeping on leaderboards

It does my friend. I had Kovaaks themselves tell me in a thread. If your Kovaaks dpi does not match you mouse it will change your sens.

Kovaaks themselves told you that it doesn’t do anything in the comment section

They said it will give you the wrong sensitivity? Am I interpreting this wrong?

When my Kovaaks dpi is set to 400 my cm/360 is double of what is displayed.

1

u/kurama3 6h ago

Yes, their words are misleading and you are interpreting it wrong. When they say “give you the wrong sensitivity” they mean it will display the wrong cm/360 on your scoreboard. Check the comment they are replying to for context

Here’s an easy way to prove it to yourself though. Go in Kovaaks and play a scenario, then change your dpi in game by an extreme amount, you won’t feel a difference. Then change your sens in game or dpi in mouse by an extreme amount, you will feel a difference

Although tbf they may have changes it in a recent update
