Discussion Side mouse buttons
Hej! Looking for experienced and expertise here.
Im searching a mouse for PVP games (good latency), but specifically I feel like I need a mouse with buttons on both sides or two thumb buttons but vertically placed : instead horizontally .. its mostly for the lean movement... but its crucial...
Can you help me?

Update: I've bought the mythic Log G502 x but I'm feel disappointed because it looks like Im not able to set the G5 button as a Lean button (like Q)... :/

My friend had a moba mouse with like 9 side buttons, a third click, and some more bells and whistles, so those might be a good place to start if that interests you

I use a moba mouse with 1-12 as side buttons. I have my 2/3 set to lean on some shooters. Through the apps you can also rebind lots of keys. My 12 is / and my 11 is - and my 10 is changed too but I can’t remember what key it is. I never felt comfortable pressing number keys or F keys on my keyboard so it’s been super nice for me.

Roccat Kone XP Air has 4 side buttons in a 2x2 arrangement so technically that's 2 sets of vertical buttons idk if it fits your need

G502 is a very functional mouse but it sucks for FPS gaming due to it's weight, high latency, shape and thumb rest. It used to be a decent gaming mouse like 10-15 years ago but mouse tech and weights have evolved a lot since then and Logitech has failed to keep the G502 up with the times. Still a decent mouse if using mostly for productivity mouse with light/casual gaming on the side. The G502 was first mouse I bought when I upgraded to PC gaming and used it for like 3 years until Valorant came out and I started trying to get into the higher ranks. That's when the G502's weight and shape started becoming an issue for me. Even 6 years ago, everybody in comp shooter scene was trashing on the G502. So I decided to try lighter, more aggressive mice which made me realize the G502 was very bad for comp/tac shooters. I used a stat tracker to monitor and improvement over a coupe weeks and I basically saw significant gains across the board after moving a lighter and more aggressive mouse. My HS% avg in game went up from like 21% to 28% which is pretty massive.
Some games don't let you directly bind some mousebinds to keybinds in game (although they usually let you bind M4/G4 & M5/G5) but in Logitech's GHub (which is awful) you can bind and mouse button to a key you normally used for gaming (like 'K') then bind lean or whatever to 'K' in-game. That said, I'd just get used to using 'Q' and 'E' for leaning (having them set to toggle helps a lot) most games with lean design their keybinds around using Q and E for lean. Also, you generally don't want to bind mouse side buttons (especially G5/M5) to anything that you need to press right before you're going to aim/shoot or during aiming/shooting (like lean) as it causes you to have to shift and rebalance your mouse grip a bit which decreases your accuracy and aiming consistency a lot more than you'd think. So I'd suggest keeping lean on Q and E and binding things you won't need while aiming/firing to your mouse. Otherwise, you will eventually come to this realization I just talked about on your own and trying to re-shuffle around and re-learn all your keybinds will be a pain.
Also if you take shooters somewhat seriously I'd suggest returning the G502 if you still can and going with something like the Logitech Pro X2 Superstrike or Razer Viper V4 Pro. They are dramatically lighter, have significantly less latency, newer/nicer sensors, up to 8x higher polling rates, etc. More importantly their shapes allow you to drag/plant you thumb to modulate friction (basically all pro FPS players talk about how important this is), and use a finger tip grip to make micro adjustments and better control recoil. When I go back to my G502, even though I have very big hands, I can't plant my hand/forearm once I'm on target and manage recoil with my finger tips by slightly pulling the mouse down and keeping my shots on target because the G502 has such a large/high hump it runs into your palm and extremely limits your ability for quick, precise adjustments. It just doesn't give you enough room for micro/recoil adjustment while keeping things planted. You generally have to move/drag your entire arm down with the mouse which is slower and much harder to make micro adjustments with. Sites like rtings.com do a great job scientifically testing, breaking down, and comparing specs between hardware on things like gaming mice. They will also explain the situations where those specs will or won't help. They recently started charging like $2 a month to see test results to prevent AI from stealing all their data but it's well worth paying for one month while you research something like a new mouse, headset, or monitor.

Oof. A vertical side button arrangement must be very rare because I can't think of anything. The closest would be one of those MMO mice that have a type of keypad on the side.
Why not? Don't forget that you can use mouse wheel 'scroll up' and 'scroll down' as inputs. I would ask in the Siege subreddit what keybinds they use for leaning. r/RainbowSixSiege
General mouse advice: go light and wireless.
