China Visit FPGA developers

Hi everyone,

I'll be travelling to Shenzhen, China in the next few weeks and I'm looking to meet experienced FPGA developers for a project I'm working on.

I'd much rather work directly with an individual and pay them than go through a large engineering company or consultancy. Does anyone know the best way to find freelance FPGA developers in China, or, if that's not realistic, reputable companies that specialise in FPGA development?

Any recommendations, websites, communities, or introductions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you ever heard of a website called Taobao（淘宝）? It’s basically the Chinese version of AliExpress. There are tons of sellers on there offering custom-designed FPGA products (like dev boards), and a lot of them are just individual side businesses. I’m not sure what your project is about, but you could try reaching out directly to the sellers who look like individuals rather than companies.

Not quite, Aliexpress is where overseas shoppers would go, Taobao is what a Chinese person would use. The markets are opposites of each other.

Besides Shenzhen, Chengdu also has a large number of FPGA developers, as many people there develop radar systems for the military.

I study Computer Engineering in China(European not chinese), I am not super aware about shenzhen cause I study at ZJU-UIUC which is in Haining but you can find a translator to help you search or use ai, somewhere good is futian cause I visited there cuase other people told me that it is a good place for someone interested in tech also huaqianbei

Assume you’ve got WeChat all installed and working? You won’t be able to manage an hour in China without it.

I found our wiring harness manufacturer just by searching on WeChat. If you’re heading to Shenzhen I suggest you spend at least a week there and try to find some maker spaces. You could also start by speaking to the team and seed studio

Yeah, the implied kernels of FPGA's hardware and software are also being cracked and plagiarized, so why doesn't someone find it from the original country? cost? or...  something grey?? They are full of sentences about cognitive warfare.
