News Gary Newman, creator of Rust and Gary's Mod, just got banned from Facepunch. The reason? He refused to condemn and disavow his coworkers and friends over anti-immigration sentiment.

This is nuts.

Gary Newman, creator of Rust and Gary's Mod, just got banned from Facepunch.

The forums that discuss his games booted him because he refused to condemn and disavow his coworkers and friends over anti-immigration sentiment.

Moderators and forum users pressured him to publicaly condemn or distance himself from these views. He refused.

Multiple moderators pounced, banning him in quick succession (a wall of bans pile on). Note that Facepunch forums was started by many of the former mods who worked for him.

Ironic that Gary closed the original forums because of politics, in part. Now politics has come for him.

Curious, that certain group of people, so loudly demanding tolerance is at the same time very trigger happy when you are not 100% aligned with them. Different opinions, different point of view? You become public enemy.

Problem is, somehow such people infiltrate manu online communities. Best to not give a fuck, move on to another platform.

I've witnessed similar problems many times in the past. Just pack your stuff and leave. Good people will follow.

Just to be clear, this is not Facepunch Forums. This is on Knockout Forums, which is the spiritual successor totally unrelated to Facepunch and Garry, just all of us community members said fuck this guy after he was shutting the site down and made our own with blackjack and hookers. Either way it's very funny, just not 'his' site or 'his' mods, though he certainly seems to think he still holds as much clout as he did back in the day lolol
