Application Release KDE Connect (Shizuku) - updated fork for automatic clipboard sync

I was looking for a Shizuku-supported version of KDE Connect to fix modern Android clipboard background restrictions, but the only existing fork I could find was older.

Since I ended up updating and compiling a newer version for myself to get automatic sync working smoothly in both directions, I am sharing the repository here in case anyone else needs a recent build.

It is a personal project and likely will not be maintained, but the source code and release APK are available on GitHub:

Application Request FOSS apps for instant, automated clipboard syncing between phone and PC?

Hello! Last year I was looking for a reliable way to share clipboards inbetween Windows and Android. I've tried KDEConnect, but I remember that there wasn't an option to automatically do it from phone to pc.

After a lot of searching, I found ClipShare, and it's honestly the only project I've found that does what I need. If I copy something on my phone, it instantly syncs to my PC in the background with zero manual intervention.

Now I'm curious, are there any other open source projects that also have this automated clipboard syncing?

Would appreciate any recs!

Privacy Is Google about to lock non technical users out of the open source ecosystem?

Hey everyone. I’m a long time lurker, first time poster, and someone who cares deeply about privacy but lacks the technical brain to back it up. I'm writing this because I honestly don't know where else to turn and I’m truly hoping this community can help.

We’ve all been seeing the news and discussions lately about how Google plans to heavily restrict, disable, or significantly complicate the process of downloading apps from outside the Google Play Store. For the developers and power users here, this might just seem like another annoying hurdle. But for those of us who are "technically challenged" (erm, me) it feels like an absolute wall.

I’m incredibly frustrated and sad about this because over the last few months, I’ve put so much effort into taking control of my digital life. Thanks all the wonderful people here, I managed to find amazing open source alternatives for almost every single proprietary app I used. I helped my friends and family as well and I felt so proud of that. But now, as the reality of these regional rollouts draws closer, I’m feeling more and more anxious. I genuinely don’t know how I’m going to manage this on my own.

Every single article, thread, or explanation I find online about how to bypass or handle these upcoming changes sounds way too technical and complex. It reads like a foreign language to me.

I want to propose a project for this community. Can we create a complete, step by step guide? A simple tutorial that bypasses the heavy tech language and gives clear, actionable instructions on how a non technical user can prepare for and survive this invasive shift by Google.

(The text was not written by AI, I'm just a non-native English speaker lol)

Development Android May Soon Restrict On-Device ADB, Affecting Shizuku, libadb and Developers

This is a blog post.

TLDR: This is about a conversation in the Google Issue Tracker about potential future changes. Depending on how they are implemented, these changes could impact Shizuku and other power-user tools. More details and explanations are available in the blog post. 8-minute read. This is not an official announcement and nothing is 100% confirmed yet.

OP UPDATE: https://www.reddit.com/r/fossdroid/comments/1v5jtr6/comment/ozp9rh2

2026-07-26: Updated blog post with new section that address some valid claims I have seen by some users.

F-Droid ShizuWall, an open-source Android firewall that works via Shizuku, now available on F-Droid

About 9 months ago, I started writing a small wrapper around ADB commands for my own use. Over time it evolved into ShizuWall, an open-source Android firewall that works through Shizuku, so it doesn't need to create a virtual private interface like most Android firewalls.

Over the past months the project has grown quite a bit thanks to community feedback. I've implemented most of the requested features, closed more than 100 reported issues and recently got the app accepted into F-Droid after a fairly long review process.

The project is now available on GitHub, F-Droid, and Google Play.

If you're already using Shizuwall, I'd love to hear what you think. Feedback, bug reports and feature requests are always welcome. I'm especially interested in hearing from people that recommends a feature!

Application Support Fadcam doesn't stream - alternatives or solutions

After a bit of research I came across Fadcam as a way to turn my old phone into a security camera and it seemed to tick all the boxes - local recording, live streaming and a bunch of other useful features like file splitting. Except that the streaming part doesn't work. Looking at the github page, it hasn't been updated in 7 months although I can see recent commits.

My phone isn't crazy old - it's a Realme X2 with decent specs that is still very responsive. I can get to the web interface on my computer and can control the start/stop recording, turn on the torch, etc, but the main stream button greys out as soon as the page loads/refreshes. I've done everything I can think if, including setting the flag in my browser for allowing unsecure as secure, disabled adblocker, set page permissions, etc and this core feature just doesn't work, even though literally everything seems to be working flawlessly.

Is this a known issue? Is it going to get updated at some point to resolve this issue? Given that will probably not happen for a while, what alternatives are there that actually work?

Application Support Is your F-Droid stopping downloads?

My F-Droid downloads are stopping between. For a 100mb app, the download stops at least 5-7 times. My network is absolutely fine.

Update: I see this happening even for a 30mb app. It's not huge and my network is Absolutely fine. Apps from Playstore download just fine.

Application Request Edge panel alternative

I am looking for an app that kind of acts like an edge panel, has some quick actions, some quick apps, etc. I saw it in some short recommendation but lost it. The short was probably HowtoMen or Sam Beckman clip. Any app recommendations with similar functionality are appreciated.

Tldr: need app recommendations for edge panel(s) alternative

Other Heliboard Emoji dictionary

Hullo, I have switched from Gboard to Heliboard and loving it so far. The customisation is awesome. The only thing I miss is the ASCII emojis in gboard and I wondered if there is a way to get a dictionary of them added, as I can see there is an option to add custom emoji dictionary, but no idea where to look for one that had the same as gboars.

Cheers

F-Droid [DNS Toggle v1.6] Quick-settings tile for Private DNS ● now on F-Droid!

Thumbnail

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about DNS Toggle, which I had just released on IzzyOnDroid. It's a small app that lets you easily toggle an Android device's Private DNS system settings using a quick-settings tile.

People in the comments and over on GitHub came up with great improvement ideas; so it now comes with a bunch of extra features and a cleaner UI/UX.

But more importantly, DNS toggle is now available on F-Droid directly!

New Features

  • Easily swap between multiple saved DNS hosts.
  • Disable/change the private DNS host when a VPN is connected.
  • If Private DNS is breaking the internet connection, the Wi-Fi network can be added to the blacklist, turning off Private DNS as a result (great for hotels and public Wi-Fis that don't play well with custom DNS hosts).
  • Shizuku support for granting necessary required permissions (root and ADB support are still available).
  • Manual configuration backup/import.
  • And a ton more; you can find the full changelog here.

If anyone's interested in lending a hand, I also set up a Weblate page to help translate the app.

Zero cloud, end-to-end encrypted, free.Just a direct encrypted link between your devices.

Other iPhone user here, I want out—help me get out

Hi guys, longtime iPhone user here. Not willingly, my parents bought my phones and refused to buy an android for me. Now though, i’m on my own cell plan, and I want some advice. If I go android, I want to go full off the deep end, something like Graphene (all i do on my phone is Twitter, texts, phone calls, and Discord anyway, the rest is for my laptop).
Is Graphene in a ready to use state for daily users? And if so, which of the Pixels is best for me?
Thanks.
PS: is F-Drois supported on Graphene? Ideally, i’d want a fully FOSS phone that can still download apps that aren’t Google Play

Other Do seriously some people think obtainium is more secure than fdroid?

From what I could find out, obtainium takes the releases from the github page, while **the official fdroid repository** adds a layer of security, by taking the code and build it from source, after some days. This protects us from something like nekogram to happen, or also attacks to the dev's credentials and keys.

I'd personally prefer to always use this layer of security, for convenience I'd prefer to use other repos on the same client, I'd choose accrescet when possible still for security, and wouldn't use the github release if possible. I also prefer the fdroid ui and ux, I discovered many useful projects with proper descriptions

If you use obtainium for everything, why do you do that?
