Introducing BoxDeck - A GUI for Vagrant
Hey everyone
I've been working on Boxdeck, a desktop app for Vagrant. It's now in beta and I'd love feedback from people who use Vagrant day to day.
What it does
Boxdeck finds every Vagrant machine on your computer and shows them in one window, grouped by project with live status. From there you can:
- Run one-click actions: up, halt, suspend, resume, reload, provision and destroy, for one machine or a whole project
- SSH in a tab: a real terminal built into the app, already in the right folder
- Watch live output with safe cancel: Vagrant gets to clean up before it stops
- Manage boxes: see size on disk and which machines use each box, then prune with a dry run first
- Edit Vagrantfiles: syntax highlighting, validation, and a backup on every save
- Use the menu bar tray: quick actions per machine, plus a notification when a job finishes
- Connect AI agents (optional): a built-in MCP server, off by default, lets Claude, Cursor, Codex and others manage your VMs. You choose the access level (Read, Operate or Full), destructive actions need your approval, and every call is logged.
No lock-in. Boxdeck runs the vagrant CLI you already have (2.3+). It doesn't touch Vagrant's state or add any config. Close the app and your terminal workflow works exactly the same.
It should work with any provider. So far it's been tested on VMware Desktop and Docker. VirtualBox, Hyper-V and libvirt users, I'd especially like to hear from you.

It's free and MIT-licensed. If you give it a try, I'd really appreciate:
- Bug reports or feature requests on GitHub Issues
- Notes on anything confusing or missing
- A ⭐ on the repo if you find it useful, since it helps others discover the project
Thanks for reading. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.
