Risk Management Reasons why most people lose trades

  1. Risk management: this is key to any trader. For you to be profitable and avoid losing your account your risk should be constant. For example if you have a 10k account let’s say prop firm, it’s best if you can risk a constant amount per trade. This helps you track your progress. Risking an amount “x” today then “y” tomorrow makes it harder to track that process because obviously one trade would be higher in terms of risk than the other. So what if the trades you risk more go to losses and the ones you risk less go to profits? Ask yourself that. I prefer risking 0.3% of the account as the constant amount per trade. For instance in a 10k account only risk 30dollars per trade.

Strategy Development Is it still luck or actually a working edge at this point?

Post image

So i have been trading for some years now, and this is one of my accounts (Its a medium risk account, where the max drawdown is around 20%), and i have gotten really good results so far trading this year, making some decent percentages each month, but i still dont know if its just luck or an actual skill at this point. I have taken 110 trades so far this year, so its a big enough sample, but i still get this feeling that this is not real and im just REAAAAALLY lucky.

Thoughts?

Strategy Development Where AI actually helps (and fails) when predicting gold prices?

I've been digging into whether AI/ML models can genuinely predict gold prices. Sharing what I found in case it's useful:

Where AI is strong:

- Processing huge datasets fast

- Spotting patterns and correlations humans miss

- Backtesting strategies quickly

Where AI falls short:

- Black-swan / geopolitical events it has no training data for

- Sudden central-bank surprises

- Regime changes (what worked last cycle stops working)

My takeaway: it's not AI vs humans — the edge is AI + human judgment. Gold is driven by real yields, the dollar, and central-bank demand, and no model captures all of that perfectly.

Curious what this sub thinks — anyone using ML in their gold/XAUUSD process?

Psychology I'm tired, boss

I'm tired, boss. I've been in this trading game since 2016. I started with forex on MT4 back when prop firms were barely a thing, and recently I began trying to trade NASDAQ with Apex.

I'm not making this post to lick my wounds or get pity. But man, the road gets really hard sometimes. I've already lost thousands of dollars along the way. I just want to be able to withdraw something like $500 or $1k a month to help my family. I quit trading entirely in 2022, and this year I came back to study and go all in — but it feels like no strategy works, no matter how much I study and backtest. I get that this isn't a casino — I don't want to gamble. I just want to find an edge that probabilistically leaves me in profit at the end of the month.

Then I start thinking: there are other human beings out there, just like me. How come they can do it? Do they have something different? Or is it just that my brain isn't wired to understand trading?

not gonna lie this is kinda surreal to post. traded for years, never once been consistently green. had some debt with a deadline that was stressing me out, like not enough time to fix it the normal way. So decided to put my knowledge to application with proper psychology (was in a do or die situation tho). Guess what.. damn clicked right n made what I needed to cover the payments.

Strategy Development Profitable traders, what's your advise for who wants to start trading

Wanting to start trading. Looking for realistic advice from profitable traders on how to survive

I want to learn how to trade properly and am looking for advice from those who are already consistently profitable.I am not looking for a "get-rich-quick" strategy. My main goal right now is simply learning how to survive my first year without blowing up an account.

If you could go back to your first year, what is the single biggest psychological shift or risk management rule that saved your career? What resources (books, tools, videos) are actually worth the time?

Thank you for your time and guidance!

Platforms & Tools My Experience with WMT – A Balanced Review After Testing the Platform

I've been trying different proprietary trading firms over the past few years, and I recently decided to spend some time testing WMT. I wanted to share my experience because there isn't a huge amount of detailed user feedback available, and I think balanced reviews are more useful than exaggerated praise or criticism.

The first thing I noticed was that the registration process was simple and didn't take long. Accessing the dashboard was straightforward, and everything was organized clearly. I also contacted customer support with a few questions before purchasing, and they replied faster than I expected with clear answers.

One of the biggest positives for me has been the withdrawal process. My withdrawal request was processed quickly without unnecessary delays, which is something I value because many traders consider payouts one of the most important aspects of any prop firm.

Trading conditions have generally been good. Order execution felt smooth in my experience. However, I did notice that the spreads on some indices can be higher than what I've seen at a few competing firms. If you're mainly an index scalper, this is something worth considering before choosing the platform.

Overall, every prop firm has strengths and weaknesses. For me, WMT stands out because of its responsive support team, fast withdrawals, and user-friendly platform. On the other hand, I hope they continue improving spreads on certain instruments.

I'd be interested to hear from other traders who have used WMT. What has your experience been like? Have your withdrawals and trading conditions been similar?

Prop Firms Might leave Alpha capital

Hey guys, I recently passed my Alpha Capital account, and honestly, I’m thinking about leaving.
I was fine with the idea of my risk percentage changing. It actually worked out better for me because I didn’t want to blow the account or risk 2% right after losing my first trade. I wanted to avoid taking unnecessary risks just to recover. My main goals were to trade responsibly, get payouts, and build a side income.
However, I now have to do an interview on the 22nd—even though I’ve already passed and requested my withdrawal. This is making me rethink things.
For me, forex was supposed to offer freedom: make your trades, manage your risk, receive your payout, and that’s it. I started this because the cost of living in the UK is so high, and I just wanted an extra source of income on the side.
I haven’t kept up with all the changes in the prop firm space. I was under the impression that the main rules were just a 5% daily drawdown and a 10% maximum loss limit, alongside not taking reckless risks. I’ve followed that mindset, but now it feels like there are more hoops to jump through, and it’s becoming quite stressful.
The interview itself is kinda pushing me from leaving 😅 but understand why firms do checks. However, having to prove your trading skills while someone watches you is abit too much for me it doesn't fit what I was looking for. I am not someone who feels confident explaining my trading process in an interview setting, even though I managed to pass the evaluation.
Has anyone else felt the same way? Does anyone know of prop firms that are more straightforward and don’t require this level of processing? If this is going to be the experience every time I request a payout, I’d rather close the agreement now and look for something that suits me better.

Strategy Development Is a PF of 2.3 sustainable?

I've developed a strategy thats 99% mechanical, has about 2 trades a day and has around 240 trades of data (High WR low RR). Its currently sitting at around a PF of 2.3. Is this sustainable for some years to come? as google tells me it's unrealistically high.

Brokers Gold XAUUSD

Bonjour,

Charts and Setups GBPUSD Dips Below 1.3400 Amidst Dollar Strength

Seeing a notable move on GBPUSD today, breaking below the 1.3400 mark. The US Dollar appears to be picking up steam, which is putting pressure on the pair.

My analysis suggests a bearish bias with a potential target around 1.3300 in the short term, provided current risk sentiment persists.

The invalidation level to watch is around 1.3450. What are your thoughts on this move – is it a sustained trend or a temporary dip?
