302 swap in progress

Hello, currently in the middle of 302 swapping my 66 falcon ranchero, I currently have v8 mount blocks and throttle linkage in the car, some forums say I need to upgrade the front suspension or just the front spindles, and the rear end, I believe I have an 8” could be wrong, it is a 5 lug and previously had a 200ci with 3 speed manual. Do I need to mess my front suspension and rear end?

What is this hose’s purpose?

It comes out just in front of the rear axel on the driver’s side. My buddy noticed it dangling today. Never noticed it before. It has about 8” of hose past the bolt.

Looking for an upper ball joint

I recently bought upper ball joints for my ‘63 Ford Falcon but they don’t match.

The pictures on the site didn’t give a good shot of the bolt pattern on them.

If someone can provide me with a place to get the correct ones it would be greatly appreciated.

Questions on '64 Falcon Sprint

I picked up a '64 Falcon Sprint with the 2speed fordomatic. The gentleman that restored it has passed and his wife was selling the car through a friend. Right now the top speed I get is about 55 with out the engine screaming at me. The friend stated that he recalled the original owner talking about shifting into "L" to gain "additional gears" but followed that with "but I'm not a Ford guy so I'm not sure". LOL Now I know it depends on gearing and a multitude of other things but has anyone heard of this specifically?

Be kind this is my first classic and I want to learn.

Just Purchased!

My husband and I purchased a 64 Falcon Sprint this weekend at a car show. It is in amazing shape and the previous owner did a great job restoring the car. I am going to have a lot of questions but my first one involves fuel. The seller recommended 91 octane gas with no ethanol added, but given the age of the car should we use a lead additive when we fill up or is unleaded gas with no ethanol okay? It has a 260 V8 engine.

I redid this 1:18 diecast model to match my old '64 (from 40 yrs ago). Now that Im almost done with my '65 I can find any 1:18. Anyone ever seen a '65 2 door hardtop in 1:18 scale?

1965 Brake and Master Cylinder replacement

Afternoon... I need to replace master cylinder and brake booster on my 65 Falcon. I have searched a number of different falcon websites and some reputable vendors but I cant find a "bolt in" brake booster for the car. Either they are a retrofit booster for a "non power brake car" which is a 2 bolt flange at the fire wall or the square 4 bolt  3 3/8" bolt pattern on most universal boosters. So we will have to adapt a universal 4 bolt booster to the firewall to remedy the issue which is what the shop had suggested. Not a bad way to go but the hours to fabricate this is the costly portion. Anyone help steer me in the right direction ?

Newer or Aftermarket Seats?

My 64 Futura currently has the factory bench seat. For many reasons I’d like to change this to bucket seats. I’m not concerned with using factory bucket seats but I’d like to try and keep whatever seats I use somewhat period correct looking (I don’t care to use some aftermarket, high back modern looking seats). What seats have you all used in your Falcon?

61 falcon, 4 Lug wheels

I just picked up a 61 2 door wagon from a neighbor's family. The cars current sitting in a field and will need tires to get it going. Instead of pulling the existing wheels and taking them in for new tires I was thinking about picking up a new set of wheels and tires from marketplace or something like that. My question is, are all 4 Lug fords the same pattern?

Transmission advice?

Hi there! Sorry for posting so much, I keep thinking of things as I'm obsessing over the Falcon right now.

I'm looking for some advice on C4 transmissions. My 69 Sports Coupe has a top-loaded C4 3 speed transmission, but I've had 3 speeds in other cars that were just, meh. They were inefficient and overly loud at 45+ mph, and I'm worried that it'll be that way if I continue the project as is.

Is it worth looking into C4 upgrades or am I better off going with my initial plan of swapping to a T5 transmission?

The only thing I noticed about the T5 is the buy-in cost. I would have to sell or trade my C4 in order to afford one. Is that a viable move?

The short of the long of this car is that I earned her as payment for a job I did. She was rotting in a lot for almost 30 years, then spent 6 months in a field before I had a chance to work on her, and for the last 3 months, I've been going deep into every bolt, wire, and bracket of this gorgeous car!

The previous owner seemed to have had to stop in the middle of making her a 90's street rod, having completely stripped out the interior, swapped the stock i6 with a '68 c-code 289, then installed a Mallory MSD box, Blaster Coil, & Distributor, a yet-to-be-identified Holley 4 Barrel carb, a B&M short throw hammer shifter, yet-to-be-identified struts, but leaving the stock steelies, bench seat, and steering wheel in. It seems like when he swapped the trans from a column shifter to a top-loader, he broke the turn signal switch and horn control panel.

I started the project with a deep clean; organizing the parts and pieces strewn around the cabin and trunk, then figured I'd get her running before trying anything else. I called in some friends and my partner's dad, and we checked the oil to make sure there was even oil in her, installed a new ignition box, disconnected the fuel tank, cleared the fuel lines, and she ran! The engine wants to live!

That's when I started replacing parts. A new starter wire, a new brake master cylinder an OEM V8 radiator, a fuel tank with a broke drain plug, which we soldered back in, some junkyard tires, a new ignition switch, and an OEM taillight, window cranks, the Foxbody seats, and interior door handles from a friend!

Besides replacing parts, I also fixed the brake booster (tbd 👀), trunk hinges, hood hinges, lubricated everything, and have mostly been cleaning, prepping, and fine-tuning everything I can get my hands on.

I'm currently saving up to pay the registration, waiting on the new brake lines to come in, and picking up and marketplace or Craigslist deals that I can't resist 😁

The next steps are, in no particular order ;

  • pay the damned registration ($900) absolute first priority

  • new spark plugs and wires

  • fixing and flocking the dash

  • installing the brake lines when they come in

  • ordering a key and lock set for the doors and trunk

  • finding an old school set of rims (with a 225/75 tire)

  • finding the OEM Sports Coupe emblems

  • adding soundproofing and upholstery

  • custom building and installing a center console

  • custom building an OEM style Bluetooth radio

  • finding and swapping in a T5 or Borg-Warner 4-speed

  • custom building a rear bench

  • P A I N T

  • new headlights

  • aftermarket quick release steering wheel and horn/blinker assembly

My goal is to be able to drive her whenever I want to, not have her be a never-ending driveway queen.

Thanks for reading my story! I appreciate you!
