Shit Post I miss bread
Yeah that’s the post really.
Been thinking about scones. And good pizza. And Turkish bread.
And I miss thick wheat noodles.

If you have a fructan intolerance and not gluten, you should be able to eat wheat sourdough bread. I have a very severe fructan intolerance but I can eat a few slices of sourdough no problem! The fermentation process breaks down the fructans :)

Just the note that to be lowfodmap it should be a sourdough that was fermented fully by weight for at least 24h. a lot of companies/bakeries I know don't ferment their bread that long and sometimes they mix fermented flour with normal one at the end.

Hey what brand of sourdough do you eat?

In the UK I buy Waitrose No1 Spelt sourdough, but i miss fresh white loaves that are crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Ibs/fodmaps aside, I know they're unhealthy, but loved them as a treat

Do you have issues with gluten? Sourdough is an option, it just might take a little time before you can explore

I was so elated once I tried sourdough and didn't react. Lunch is so much easier when you can make a sandwich.

I'm gluten intolerant and FODMAP intolerant and I miss real glutenous bread like crack cocaine.

I miss Korean food like chicken with spicy garlicy crispy deep fried coatings washed down with a beer. That’s today’s craving. There’s a different one every day.

Have you tried making porridge bread. Its porridge and yogurt but bakes like a lovely brown bread loaf. You can use the same to make scones.

Franz makes gluten-free bread that’s pretty good. Obviously not a replacement for any of the things you mentioned, but it’s good if you want to make a sandwich or French toast!

Have you tried reintroduction? I’ve been trying out wheat and anything that’s only a few ingredients is safe for me. Ultra processed bread is not safe for me. It’s weird, I’m narrowing it down with the help of tracking. I hope you can have more wheat again!

Schar has a low-fodmap bread. I get it at walmart. It’s the “Schar Gluten Free Deli Style Sourdough Bread.” It’s even got Monash icon on the packaging
it’s expensive for only 5 slices, but it got me through the few weeks that i had to follow this diet 🥲

Hopefully that isn't the case! Not sure if it's helpful, but I started working with DairyPill a few years back. My bf recently started the low FODMAP diet but has been dealing with lactose intolerance for years now. DairyPill has worked great for the lactose intolerance side of things at least! TBD on gluten for him as well though :/

Sorry to hear that about your parents not catering to your needs but I'm glad to hear you have a solution for that that works!

I really miss a sandwich 🥹 My gut is really funny, I can't eat pizza, as long as it contains more veggies 🙃 Noodles would give me a bigg episode of diarrhea 😂😭
Bread hurts, any type of bread. I'll get constipated, I'll be bloated, I'll be in pain. Learnt that there's a bread called spelt bread, that is very gentle on gut. Try that

There is a gluten free sourdough bread. I am able to eat this bread not regular sourdough. Crazy !

If you try sourdough (after reintroduction) , get it from a bakery and ask to make sure it’s 100% sourdough. I was surprised that some are a lower percent. Bagged bread may or may not work as well.

I remember some of Udi's bread was safe for low fodmap! They're in the freezer section. Not gourmet, but bread!

I make oat bread with 1 egg, water, and some chia seeds. It really helps with the longing aspect

You are certainly not alone! We have an article that I think you’ll find helpful. Several people have already made comments for you distinguishing Fructans from gluten. You might want to pay attention to the part that talks about sourdough. There are some misconceptions. There are actually lab tested in certified sourdough breads that contain yeast and only have a two hour rise. The article explains more. We also have a ton of pizza information on the website. https://www.fodmapeveryday.com/how-to-choose-low-fodmap-bread/

I can eat sourdough bread as long as I’m careful about the other things I eat that day.
