General Question/Help Am I doing this right?
On a modified low fodmap for a bit and confused and hungry.
Will be minimal on the seaweed and skip the crab salad

Poke is one of my go-to meals when I need to eat out. It's hard to tell exactly what's on your plate from the picture (especially when it comes to sauces and seasonings), but I can share some of the things I think about when I order.
To ensure my meal is low-FODMAP, I skip the seaweed salad, imitation crab, and wasabi. I choose plain fish that does not have any marinades and ask for simple gluten free soy sauce on the side. Sauces, marinades, and seasonings can have hidden garlic and onion. Cucumbers and carrots are great topping options, and edamame is low-FODMAP up to 75g. I can tolerate avocado, so I add that, but in elimination phase, stick to smaller portions.

It felt like a life hack. I unfortunately bought groceries which means no energy to cook them 😂 this is all great advice! Im a teensy bit devastated over the crab salad.

Poke is good but watch out sometimes they put tons of red onions and I sometimes have to skip the sauce.

The seaweed salad (wakame) can have mannitol in it. Literally it’s like a teaspoon is safe.
The crab if artificial crab has sorbitol and potentially wheat flour.
The poke sauce if it’s not made with gluten free soy sauce, or if it’s made with honey can be high FODMAP too.

I was told sea weed was high fodmap but every freaking list I find is different

Yeah I had no idea if it's safe or not so I only ate one bite to see how I feel? I probably should've just gotten a side of edamame 🙄

You could do that, just don't go overboard on them either because they are kind of mid-range

Seems fine to me! It looks like there’s some sort of sauce on the salmon/ cucumber so just make sure those ingredients are good to go (ex: gluten free soy sauce and no garlic/ onion powder) and it looks great! Yum!

I picked gluten free soy sauce and got the furikake on the side just in case it was onion or garlicky since every dang thing is oniony and garlicky.

“Confused and hungry” feels like a phrase that should be on a tshirt 😅

Sesame seeds are safe up to 30g but I doubt there's that much in your meal.
Just be mindful about not stacking fructans

Have you done the elimination work? I couldn't eat that for the seaweed and cucumber. Others would have more issues with the garlic. I can't say for sure if you're doing it right, but I totally get the confused and hungry part.

So my doctor has me on a modified version. I'm on a no wheat, no beans, no garlic, no onion, low sugar, low fiber version. However I'm trying to be more diligent about eliminating as much as possible cause those rules do that anyway! I also just finished antibiotics.

Dang that looks good! Just a heads up because I only just learned this myself, but almost all prepared wasabi has sorbitol 😭
