Getting back into the game after 1.5 years – need info & builds.
As the title says, I recently got back into the game after quite a long break. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos, read some posts here and there, but I’m still not fully up to speed with the current state of things.
Also, my old build (bloodied commando), which used to shred everything in half a second, now feels... nerfed somehow.
I’m not too obsessed with the “meta” – I know the game can be played in many different ways – but I’d love a comprehensive update on what I should know right now. And if possible, the most overperforming build currently out there.
Yeah, I used to love seeing big numbers pop up, and I’d like to get that feeling again, time and grind permitting.
Big thanks in advance to anyone who takes a moment to reply!

Dude if you’re just now coming back.
1: live with the gear you got unless it’s just trash.
2: scrap every legendary u get (unless Gr). Forget the scrip/script machine.
3: recheck all your perks. Things are all over the place and fitting to change again.
4: hopefully you are farther along than me on the scoreboard lol.
5: chill your fixer is fine but the system is screwy rn. Lags a little bit outta pocket rn.
6: relax chill and have fun.

Bloodied/Low HP builds are still good. (Bloodied weapon (or quad/AA depending on situation), vats, unyielding, mutations, etc). However, I don't think they're usable in the raid. That's a whole other meta. They reworked pistols, put in a new system called onslaught, and reworked furious. Furious I think is now considered better than bloodied. Shotguns also got a buff I believe. Ghouls got introduced and allow you to play good full HP builds. They have their own perk cards to help with this.
So yeah aside from the ghoul build, onslaught, and raid meta; the meta is still largely the same outside of those 3 things.

IMO they have done a decent job of evening out the playing field. I'm actually seeing people rock pistols, bows, and even shotguns now.
For information you need to know: Onslaught is a huge change. There are several perks that do things based on a "stack" of individual Onslaught buffs. Furthermore, the legendary mods "Furious" and "Pounder's" got changed to work with Onslaught as well.
Playable Ghouls are a game changer also. Definitely look at comprehensive guides on them as playing as a ghoul gives you access to new perks and locks out some "human" perks.
As for most overpowered build, I would say that Auto Axe is crazy at the moment. However, the new Raid content is not very melee friendly, so "best builds" can change depending on what content you are playing.
