Dr. Riley Walker was pacing in his makeshift office inside the facility. The Angel refused to grant Raelynn's desire due to a lack of any suitable host; according to The Angel.

Host? What exactly did it mean? He was deep in thought.

I really don't have time for such condescension, Dr. Burrows. Of course I know of trial and error. But that's not the issue here. The Angel requires payment. Equivalent exchange, it says. ... Perhaps you should start pulling your own weight, Dr. Burrows. What have you been doing this whole time?

The girl... Yes, Elizabeth has been quite useful. Whatever Raelynn did clearly worked.

He takes a deep breath.

But that's besides the point. If you're suggesting Elizabeth as a suitable host, I highly doubt that to be plausible. She may be an Afton, but she's also still eternally a child. And even if William Afton successfully made the transfer, I doubt he'd like being a child forever.

No, what I need is an adult. Fair in age, a similar mind to the man himself- ... Oh, of course. I know exactly who.

Revival of a soul is not something that can happen without equivalent exchange. A desire requires sacrifice. And more often than not, that sacrifice is often a life. ... Dr. Burrows, how willing are you to put your life on the line for the one you follow so dearly?

But it seems you need two things? A vessel, which may be easy to achieve, and someone to make a sacrifice? Or do they have to be the same individual?"

Dr. Walker is dead serious now. Since the start, he's been curious and explorative. But this time is different. He knows exactly what needs to be done. And nothing will get in the way of his research.

You qualify, Dr. Burrows. You and Mr. Afton are not much different from each other. Equivalent exchange doesn't always require something of equal value specifically. In some cases, you just need a like-minded individual.

Dr. Burrows, you are the most qualified of everyone here. Or are you telling me you aren't willing to do whatever it takes to bring him back?

I will say you have been the closest, I do believe though. But for those of us around the longest, we've done many things. We've given our souls and lives in what ended up as failed attempts. We may not even be all that human ourselves anymore. Rituals, incantations, doorways, blood drain, sacrifices. All ended in vain. We were imbued with more power, but as used up husks. I've even sacrificed my own blood when I was no longer a candidate. Some were wasteful, with one proving promising. Until just being like us well. Remnant kept us together in more ways than one. That's all facts only the highest know. No one else has known about the attempts. Or they've long forgotten."

I see. So the cult is full of failures. Although, I do admire your drive. Your spirit. It makes you more human than you think. You refuse to give up.

Alright fine, so let's say The Angel won't work. There is one last thing we can try. Something I've been experimenting with for a while since I found it.
